You know something, no one has thought about this...but this has raised Tmac's value.

Because you see, now it makes more sense for us...as a rebuilding team...to hang onto that huge expiring contract. It's better for us to hang onto that now and possilby 2010 letting both Yao and Tmac go for MUCH more cap space...how much would that leave us with, enough to throw a lot of money around?

If correct, if we let Tmac and Yao go (this era is done with folks) can we go after Two stars like Amar'e and Wade?

    2010-11

    Brooks
    Wade
    Ariza
    Scola
    Stoudamire

    Championship?

I mean if Lebron wants to play with Bosh, we can easily convince Wade if the Heat don't improve "We have enough to sign both you and Amare, plus we're in a big market, AND we already have good pieces.

    Maybe i'm dreaming lol.

It looks to me like Feigen is forgetting that both teams have Bird Rights.

What is up with giving up on Battier, he is the leader of the team now with Yao and TMac out. TMac is the guy that should be dealt asap and I am sure Morey will get something done by the 8th.

I meant if Ariza's yearly salary was more then Ron's, now understood the first year salary. I'm on the same page, trust me.

I'll have to take your word for it, because I still don't get what you're saying :p

They are both clearly making the full MLE in their first season (the only one that matters for matching up in a trade).

Ariza agreed to a five-year deal with the Rockets for about $33 million, roughly the same that the Lakers had offered in their effort to retain him.

"I had to do what was best for me and family," Ariza said. "I am happy with my decision. I'm glad this all worked out. The Rockets are going to give me a chance to improve my game and that's all you can ask for."

Ariza's agent, David Lee, said the 24-year-old forward passed up a more lucrative contract offer from another team with salary-cap space. "We decided to go with Houston anyway," Lee said. "It was never about the money. It was about going someplace where you felt appreciated."

I just hope he would not be like James Posey who was overhyped during last years finals

I can tell you definitively Trevor had an offer that was nine million more than what the Rockets offered and he decided to go with Houston," said David Lee, Ariza's agent, in an interview Thursday with FOX 26 Sports.

"It's like I told (Lakers General Manager) Mitch Kupchak. It was never about the money. It was about being at a place where he felt wanted and appreciated."

Well, putting all other issues aside, wouldn't it be in the Lakers' interest to not give the Rockets more flexibility? Morey's shown himself to be one of the shrewdest GMs in the league, and the Rockets pushed the Lakers further than any other team in the playoffs last year. if your Mitch Kupchack, and your team is pretty much set for next year by signing Artest straight up, wouldn't you balk at giving Morey unnecessary flexibility?

There is no way the Rockets hang on to TMac until his contract expires. The organization is a proud organization and will not settle on being in rebuilding mode. Morey will have the team that will go to war this season at the beginning of the season and will not wait on players to come back or contracts to expire. Have faith in the team it will not be a rebuilding squad or a lottery squad.

The Lakers just won the title and the Rockets probably lost Yao for the year. They're not worried about us.

WTH??? We let Artest walk and bring in Ariza? We basically did a Greene for nothing trade. Ariza has little offense and doesn't address any of our problems in sg and C, also 5-yrs contract is not good even we know he is 24 years old.

I am not sure if I still have that "IMWT" mood.

This guy is younger than James Posey with continue upside. He can only get better and I am glad that there will more moves to have this team ready to compete come the start of the season.

Funny thing, Shaq was on PTI and was asked what he thought if Ron signed w/ the Cavs (at the time still a legit rumor).

Shaq gave a diplomatic, canned answer that Ron is a good player. Then he brought up Ariza's name and spent more time talking about him and how much he liked him.

Yao will be back in Feb. if all goes well with his new surgery and if the team can stay afloat till then you never know what can happen.

Yeah but being a lottery team for one season isnt a bad idea if you get

*30 million in cap space to play with
    * High pick

Also having Tmac back would make us competitive for half a season and who knows when Yao will come back.

I think it may be better long term to just hold onto these contracts if we aren't getting all-stars back for them.

    With this piece.
With Yao out for the year
    T Mac traded

I still think this team can win at least 40 Games
