Don't give much hope to Ariza..he might go to another team again..just like what happened with our Gortat hopes.
RealGM is saying that we are the favorites but I don't understand why or how. I won't judge the deal until the season actually starts, because I think Morey has something planned. Not for this year but to have a quick rebuild option and having a young player like Ariza is better than a 30yr old Battier or Artest.
Don't give up hope, I'm trying to get a hold of Deep Blue Please get this to Daryl Morey. Hi Daryl taking a shot this is your email address. Please read this below, I admire you as a GM how you are on the cutting edge. I hope can make an attempt to try this. There is nothing to lose for Yao, and if it doesn’t work out, then fine move on, but I think this doctor can get him back on the basketball court in a timely manner. She has treated Lance Armstrong and other athletes. I also use her and she had done wonders for me, and also treated my son who is a baseball player. I hope you are open to this. Thanks. From: Sent: Thursday, July 02, 2009 8:04 PM To: 'fanear@rocketball.com' Subject: I have a doctor that can get Yao playing basketball again I hope this finds Yao and the Rockets offices. But I have a doctor that I use and has also treated Lance Armstrong that can get Yao on the basketball court again doing activities very soon without surgery. I think with his contract extension coming up next year being important for his future and the teams finances, and also the team having success on the court that all options should be explored. Surgery can have risk and take longer to heal. This therapy keeps things in line with healing natural and my doctor has methods that will stimulate this healing. She has improved the quality of my life with my health problems and I feel confident as I know she had much success with Lance Armstrong and is one of the most high level doctors in her field. Especially with Yao not having any pain, she can get him ready to play ball. It would benefit the Rockets and Yao being able to play and his quality of life to deal with his problem. Please contact me and I will put the Rockets and her in touch with each other. Please let me know, and I hope you are willing to take this chance. I can give testimony and she has credibility with Lance Armstrong as well. Let me know.
reason why he's not going to cleveland is because no one knows what lebron's intentions are after this season, and he JUST won a championship so obviously he'd rather have playing time than a team that might be in a train wreck one season from now(not to say the rox aren't a trainwreck right now).
i think Ariza is looking for more money AND more playing time. LA won't give him either...cleveland can only give him more money, Houston can give him both..
I can see why we are the favorites. He has already won a Championship. Now, I think he either wants money or a bigger role. He's probably not going to get more money than the MLE, so the money front isn't really an issue. The reason the Rockets would be a front runner is because they can offer him a bigger role than pretty much any other team right now... well, excluding the bad teams.
Lakers free agent forward Trevor Ariza has received an offer from the Rockets, according to the L.A. Times. Since the Lakers are in the process of signing Houston forward Ron Artest, there's almost no way they'll match the Rockets' offer if Ariza chooses to accept it. The deal is said to be for mid-level money, which would be roughly the same amount the Lakers offered him. "I understand that they did sign Ron Artest," Ariza said of the Lakers. "They did what they had to do." Call us crazy, but Ariza would have been much better off checking his ego at the door and trying to re-sign with the World Champions, instead of joining a team that will be lucky to make the playoffs. Source: Los Angeles Times Related: Ron Artest If that's the case why would he come here? He turned the Lakers down and they offered him whatever the contract is to be but he accepts the Rockets offer? I don't get it.
No to Ariza, We have Battier Morey Bring in Iverson for 1 year deal. LOL we don't have a proven scorer.
How not to choose and agent 101: Trevor Ariza thinking he can get money above MLE. The agent screwed him over hard. Anyone with their ego checked realizes that with the cap situation of the league and today's economic situation, no monster deals were going to be given out.
Some people are saying Battier and Ariza should not play on the same team. If Ariza is here, Battier should be traded....or the Rockets shouldn't sign Ariza because Battier is the same player. Ariza would be a good signing. He's young, athletic, and has confidence after playing a HUGE role in the Lakers' run to the trophy. Plus, we need the depth. James White and the rookies playing the other wing position opposite Battier? Rockets either trade McGrady's contract for depth, or hold on to it for a better signing in 2010. Maybe Granger or Kevin Martin will be here by the trade deadline
I'm all for Ariza replacing Artest, granted we can still get a playmaker to replace grady with grady's expiring contract. Would also be nice if we could S&T Artest for Ariza in order to preserve the MLE...
Well it appears we are still collecting a solid assortment of role players, while losing cornerstone pieces. This is a great approach...if we can get new cornerstone pieces.
Maybe Trevor's planning on hustling his butt off and becoming the star of a team of running young guns that shocks the world.
Incoming Players Brad Miller 7-0 C from Purdue 11.9 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 3.4 apg in 31.5 minutes Outgoing Players Brian Cook 6-9 PF from Illinois 3.0 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.2 apg in 6.9 minutes Shane Battier 6-8 SF from Duke 7.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.3 apg in 33.9 minutes
Yeah I can see now after thinking about it. Going to the Cavs or Portland, he'd get the same role he had with the Lakers. The exact same role of just being a defender and spot up 3 point shooter. If he comes here he gets to play in a large market and get a bigger role. Also LOL at the LA times article. I don't think this team is that bad without Yao and Tmac to be a lock to not make the playoffs. I guess LA fans will never learn after underestimating our guys once too many times.
Not sure if it has already been posted, but ESPN is reporting that Ariza has verbally agreed to sign with Houston. Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4303862
