Ariza seems like a Morey kind of player, very efficient. I'd actually prefer Ariza than Artest on this team. Plus he's YOUNG. Signing Ariza most likely means Battier is on his way out. This is a great move please make it happen!!!
i agree. it's very fishy getting ariza when we already have battier. morey's most likely received a good offer....some young talent i hope.
Trevor Ariza is nearing a decision, a source close to the talks tells Y! Sports. Three teams: Houston leads Cleve and a late Portland bid http://twitter.com/YahooSportsNBA
IDK understand why he would sign for us over Cleveland or Portland, a Contending team like Cleveland or a team that is close to contending if they add more experience. Maybe he likes the thought of coming to a now rebuilding team, maybe we are selling him on that.
Ariza is a hybrid version of Artest and Battier so MLE money is fine but everyone needs to realize that when Morey makes a move its not with 2009-10 in mind but 2010 thru 14 in mind! If he is going for Ariza then Battier is being moved my guess is for Rudy F. or someone similar or and this is a big OR he is going to setup a package for Bosh or Amare.
I don't know why everybody is freaking out about possibly signing Ariza. He is the a lot more athletic and better finisher than Battier. Defensively he is not as good as Battier but he is only 24 and only getting better, Battier is going on the wrong side of 30 and we NEED to get younger with Yao and TMAC going away.
Anybody like to try to get ODOM now that Artest is gone? Not everyone seems sold on Ariza... how you ya'll like Lamar? Bleeding RED since 1980
it seems like a lot of you guys didn't watch the playoffs, where ariza did everything but sold hotdogs for that lakers team. it would be a steal to get a player that was arguably the third most important player on a championship team
I think getting Ariza is a good deal if it is a sign and trade. It seems very strange to me Ron would accept 18M for three years. I actually respect him for that, he really wants to win a championship. But it only makes sense if the deal is a sign and trade. And then we will all be laughing when Artest has a RonRon moment in the Lakers next season. It is time.
I'm reserving judgment until I see what they are doing with McGrady. If the plan is to go into next year with a guy like Ariza being your biggest move, then I'll be very disappointed. If they do something else though, like send McGrady to get Rip Hamilton or something, that could turn around quickly.
We can only offer the MLE. If he doesn't want to accept that then we can't get him because we are over the cap.
