Morey definitely has something up his sleeve. How is he going to offer Gortat and Ariza MLE money? He must have some kind of sign and trade for Ariza. The Lakers would go for Battier or Artest.
We do not have so much money to sign Ariza since we need the MLE for a backup center. A sign and trade deal for Artest for Ariza? Other players have to be included. Why do Lakers want to Ron instead of Ariza if the contact is equal?
Do you try to be difficult, or does it just come natural to you? You bash Morey's style of picking up role players, yet this team of role players took the Lakers to 7 games without its two leading scorers. We have had our draft picks become productive for the first time in nearly a decade. We got out of the second round for the first time in over a decade. Have you read that thread analyzing our salary cap? We are in great shape for next summer. And for the last time.... RUDY GAY WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN A ROCKET. He was purely a pick for Memphis, it has been stated a million times. You must be the guy in the stands who will complain after an 80-yard touchdown, saying something like the ball wasn't a perfect spiral. Goodness.
The Rockets surely don't need to sign/trade for Lee if he's going to double-dip by playing bball and being an agent for the other players. How in the world can he concentrate on his game when he's busy trying to find a home for Ariza?
i don't get it. i dont' get how we do this and still end up with a center. i have no idea what other centers we're looking at beyond the polish wonder, who appears to be headed for dallas.
you're post makes no sense... as if the Grizzlies were the puppet master and we are the puppet? In the world of free will you have the choice to do whatever you want.
that's the boat i'm on. i haven't seen him play alot, but he just doesnt seem like an impact player. he looks soft. if it was my choice, i'd have to see him play without all that other talent that he had on the lakers...but even at that... i don't currently like this deal.
According to Maverick reports, Gortat signed the Mavs' offer. Which would make sense given the report that Morey offered him less than the MLE and would not go above that offer. Ariza is probably the plan B target in FA. So, seeing the Gortat chose to sign the Mavs' offer, Morey is now focusing attention on Ariza. That still begs the question, what will we do at the big if we sign a wing player with our MLE.
Yao Ming injury exception? Artest/Ariza doublt S&T? Artest/Varejao double S&T? Jason Collins? Options are out there.
What? No, it has been stated many times that the Battier + Swift for #8 was agreed upon before the Rockets picked. Therefore, we called them up, they said to take Gay, and we did. I believe we had decided to take Sefolosha for ourselves if the deal fell through.
Since they play the same position and are both defensive stoppers, how about Battier to the Lakers for Ariza in a S&T? This could help us in our cap space for next summer, as opposed to just signing Ariza at the MLE and keeping Battier.

The meeting was first reported by KRIV-TV in Houston, which also said Coach Rick Adelman was meeting with Ariza. The AP source could not confirm that. David Lee, Ariza's agent, did not immediately return a phone message left by the AP. The 6-foot-8 Ariza averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists for the Lakers last season, which ended with the NBA championship.
