Quit talking down on Stevie and Cat, cuz without them the rockets will fall flat.

Comparing Cat & Steve to Kobe & Shaq is pretty dumb.

We are not Mobley haters. We are are simply Rockets fans who got sick of the isolation plays for Mobley and want him to be a team player. He and Steve need to involve the whole team and make them better and until they do that , they are going nowhere.

what i took from this was that stevie and cat need to involve the team more so we that we can actually be good. shaq and kobe prove u dont have to work the ball around that much and u can still win. also two years ago we only had stevie and cat and we barely missed the playoffs. i jus disagree that they need to work the ball around more for us to be a good team.

I think you missed the point. Steve and Cuttino's role in our offense (especially when we were as injury plagued as last year) is roughly the same as Shaq and Kobe for the Lakers. They have to be the ones creating and scoring since the rest of the team is primarily spot up shooters. The reason we aren't as good as the Lakers is that Steve and Cat obviously aren't Kobe and Shaq, but they are forced to take the same importance in the offense because they don't have the help. (last year)

For the Rockets to be successful, do they need to limit their shot attempts if a Ming and Lewis come on board? Probably. But, there's no evidence to support thinking that they won't. Every other season they've had to be the ones shooting that much-- Walt Williams and Kelvin Cato aren't exactly a lot of help.

First of all, Kobe and Shaq are superstars. One has inside presence and the other outside.

Shaq averaged 3 assts which is more than Mobley. Kobe averaged 5.5 assts. As much as it seems that they have the ball all the time, they move the ball around.

Rockets barely making the playoffs. Is that your aspiration for this team.

With better supporting cast next season, Steve and Cat should involve everyone.

Remember ,you always can pass the ball and get it back.

By the way, "The Cat", I understood exactly what "AzCkR" meant. :p

No, all what I am saying, is that the Rockets are not going to win big until they start playing as a team.

i dont think the rockets need to start playing as a team they jus need to fill a couple holes at the SF and C positions with some decent players.

Well, Kobe and Shaq are better than Steve and Cuttino, so they should have more assists... they draw more attention from the defense and have more open teammates. I agree that they need to play as a team to be successful next year; I just disagree with all those who think we won't or can't. It should be innocent until proven guilty, and there's no good reasoning for thinking Steve and Cat won't pass up a few shots to get Ming and a small forward involved. They've taken a lot of shots in the past, but that proves nothing... at that point, they had little help. Next year will be a clean slate. Let's give them a chance with a new team before y'all rip into them for being too selfish.

Cat- I guess we will just have to wait and see, maybe I am right HOPEFULLY you are, but if things don't change YES we will move 1 of those guys eventually. As for the argument we almost made the playoffs 2 years ago, that doesn't make since for the long term. Eventually you want to do more than just make the playoffs(see Timberwolves, and probably Mavs in 1 or 2 years) you want to win! Like I said though HOPEFULLY I am wrong and they BOTH will play better D with a man in the middle to help them out, and that Cat will choose his shots a little better and tone down the atts., because Cat and Steve are NO Shaq and Kobe( I wish they were though:) )

Patience, ever heard of terms like "metaphorical" or "symbolic." My reference to the dunk contest was not to be taken literally. I said it is a "snapshot" or a much larger picture. I like both Francis and Mobley. They are obviously enormously talented. BUT, they are two of the "dumbest" basketball players in the league, and that is scary. They consistently make mega-stupid decisions, hog the ball, dribble forever, pass to each other, take circus shots, ignore defensive assignments, etc. etc. They probably can't even spell T E A M!

As a FAN, I am super sick of watching them screw up. If they don't get it together this coming season, I will stop buying tickets or anything else related to the current team, and follow some other team until the Rockets become the Rockets again. All excuses aside, last season, the current team (I hate to call them the Rockets) put on the sorriest display of basketball I have ever seen, and if you think I am the only one who feels this way you are not seeing the larger picture. Fans pay professional prices to see professional (adult) players. I can go to the parks and watch "kids" play "backyard ball" for free. Can you say BUSINESS? :p

    This is my take:

Francis and Cat are talented players that take it upon themseleves too much. They don't trust any players on the team to make a play but each other and maybe Moochie. They are young and some players muture faster as players than others. Hopefully we would install an offense that will force them to trust their teammates. Jordan went through the same thing and after collins was fired, phil installed the triangle and basically forced Jordan to pass the ball to other people. Even the yr he avg 30+ pts,8 rebs and 8 asst while shooting 50% from the field, he wasn't really trusting his teammates. Maybe the same will happen with our backcourt. Maybe whn Rudy starts the offense at mid post with Ming and they get a couple of back door layups then they will see it makes the team better. It will take time, but hopefully it comes sooner than later.
