Agree with your point, but only if he comes cheap. But the same thread was posted about 2-3 days ago. Here it is: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=171185
if they do decide to rebuild, and not have Yao, tmac, or Ron next season, I would not be surprised if they signed Iverson simply to get people in the seats. Someone well known to watch. He is most effective when surrounded by stiffs.
After Denver and Detroit you still want the guy?? He's the QUESTION not the ANSWER, it'll be interesting where he winds up because a lot of teams could use an upgrade at PG or a solid backup but he might not wind up anywhere if he wants too much money.
Sorry, I have not done much surfing on here last two days and didn't really look hard before posting it. Like I said this only makes sense if they put together enough of a team to make bringing in his personality worth his points. Would kill for the Barbosa/Amare for AB/Landry deal with MLE Iverson. Starters: PG Iverson SG Barbosa SF Battier PF Amare C Ming(hopefully) Bench of Scola,Lowery,Wafer as primary subs. It is nice to dream and that would be a team that Iverson could have free reign to shoot as only Ming demands the ball down low.
His playing days are indeed over if he wants money because you are right that nobody is going to pay him after his Piston days. Guy can still fill it up though and on this team right now going nowhere for cheap. Hell yes I would take him. I think AI's option are going to be very limited. The bad teams won't waste the money and the good ones saw Denver and Detroit. Maybe he goes back to Philly but they won't pay him anything more than MLE. He could join the Lakers or Celtics if he wants a ring and takes MLE but don't think LA would do it. Celtics clearly would if they were willing to bring in Starbury. He would be the backup though and he clearly doesn't like that.
Angels beware because as the options get less, the more questions about who is going to score for this team emerge. Enter the sign AI people.
I think this season could be similar to the Spurs David Robinson injury season. A solid team that losses its best player(in this case players) and goes into the tank for a season. Lands Tim Duncan, Admiral gets healthy and the rest is history. If this team is not going to add a major piece then NO WAY should they bring in a AI. A bad team is a bad team so why spice it up and cost yourself a top pick. Right now Houston roster is not much better than Minnesota with big 3 not playing next season. There are only about 3 teams(if that many) on paper weaker than Houston if the season were to start tomorrow.
HaHa. It funny because your thread say's you have the answer and it's about Allen Iverson whose nickname is "the answer".
What were you expecting with the thread title. I don't like the guy much either but somebody is going to have to score for Houston this season. He makes sense for both sides, but AI is a final piece type of guy to see what you have first then add him. Right now he is just a piece that would keep you from a better draft pick.
I know its only the 2nd day and all but I think Iverson should be considered. Just because of the Fact that Ron is gone, Gortat is going to the Mavs, and the biggest factor of them all is that McGrady and Yao are no shows. For how long well Yao is out for the season and McGrady who knows. Iverson, the answer again? who knows but I think it would be best if they offered him the 1 year deal they did with Artest. It would probably be a win win situation. Iverson gets to start and do his thing for the 2010 free agency bidding war. If guys are saying Artest brings "toughness" to the team then A.I will bring "toughness" to the Rockets also.
