For the times that we play, Cato, Walt, Steve, Cat, and Kenny.

We could start off with what Indiana does, crowd everyone on the baseline. Have Stevie holding the ball, while Cat and Walt pop out on opposite baselines. This enables them to drive or shoot. After they pop out, kenny goes and sets a screen for Stevie and Cato sets a screen for either Cat or Walt. After Stevie drives Cato can roll and crash in, and Cat and walt can wait for the kick out.

Does Indy really do that...or just the "every crowd the baseline" part. Where is Steve?

Typically we want Steve on a wing, otherwise there is no weakside. The defense basically gets to play zone all over in your layout.

Not to say teams don't do a 1 out 4...but there are many reasons, and many precedents, why short teams with great guards play 4 out 1 more often.

to combat the zone in your set, I would recommend a good high post player. Smits is pretty much your perfect high post player at 7-3 and good passer.

all the picks sound great and all, but you'd be surprised how easy it is to make them ineffective when the defense is much taller than you, and you are essentially trying to attack the basket down the heart of the lane without a weakside.

For instance, the Cato screen on a wing player without the ball achieves little, because Cato's man could care less about following Cato out there when Francis has the ball in the middle. Cato needs to be much further away from Francis to be effective...doesn't that sound funny!!!

but he is 7 feet tall.

cheers Francis3422 for talking about a play. I'll talk any day about plays.

Indy does run a play like that but it is run for Miller. Reggie Miller runs the baseline and off screens about as well as anyone but that is his whole game.

The pick and roll and the double pick will most likely be the most effective moves for Francis. I've noticed that he is better coming off screens (whether he uses them or not) than he is in a straight iso.
