ah I see, may as well make a run for a top 3 pick somehow, whether it be by trade to stockpile/swap or playing..(aka miserable to watch).
This hurts considering we had Ron's Bird Rights, which would have allowed us to sign him without counting towards the cap. Hopefully Morey does some kind of S&T so we don't lose him for nothing.
I don't blame Morey for only offering a one-year deal. In a perfect world, Ron would accept the one year deal, and would allow us to keep a bunch of cap space and then resign him using his bird rights after we go after some big free agents. I don't think it will be a sign-and-trade unless we can get a 3rd team involved. Cleveland has nothing that we would want, but maybe has some stuff that other teams might want and we might want from them. I'd do what I could to get New Jersey involved to go after Courtney Lee. Another tidbit, Morey was originally with Boston who drafted Delonte West. Although pretty good player and fairly young, he's undersized SG at 6'3 and I personally wouldn't want to see all those tatoos, but he might be someone to consider since the Cavs would likely move West to the bench when Artest would be starting alongside Lebron.
Panic? I think not. We have a great GM, we have some young role players, and we are exquisitely poised to be a major player in the 2010 free agent bonanza. Ron will either be over payed or have to settle for less than what he thinks he's worth. Either way make him a bad fit for our future.
I don't get why everyone is acting like Artest leaving is the end of the world as we know it.... Calm down people, it will be ok.
If all that the Rockets offered was a one-year contract, as Berman reported, then I don't blame Artest for saying goodbye. It's time to go fully into a rebuild mode. Getting Rubio or an equivalent young talent should be the goal.
Exactly. And those who criticized the people who wanted to rebuild, it looks like Morey has or had the same thing in mind offering Ron only a one year deal according to the Berman report.
I say we trade Shane too, maybe even Scola. Those guys are old and they should be given the chance to contend, especially Shane. Sad to say it guys but I'd rather see Budinger and Taylor getting PT next season to see what game they have.
Who cares honestly? This team has far more problems then to overpay for a guy who thinks he's one of the best players in the league. He certainly was not going to help us win anything in the current state of the franchise. Smart decision to let him walk
