According to several league sources, the Cavaliers have been been in contact with Ron Artest.

LeBron James met with Artest on Tuesday night, according to the report.

The Rockets have had interest in Cavs free agent Anderson Varejao in the past, which opens up some possibilities of a sign-and-trade scenario - though the Cavs have said they want to re-sign Varejao.

To quote Ron's own brother, as well as common sense:

If the Rockets want to keep Ron, he'll stay, no matter how much the Cavs or LeBron or anyone else court him. The ball is in Morey's court on this one, completely.

    I don't blame Ron.

With so much uncertainty that accompanies the Rockets, someone like Ron deserves to have a better shot at a ring.

MLE for Artest? Don't know if he would accept that.

It would have to be a sign/trade. We could use Vareflop right now, he's a great rebounder and a good, flopping defender. Scola/Vareflop would be ideal for pissing off other teams.

The guy just wants to get paid. He's not taking $5M/yr from the Cavs...

Again - this will be his last big contract for aguy who feels that he has been historically underpaid - I don't see him settling for less $$$.

That's what I was gonna say. It's gonna come down to money and I don't understand how Shaq, Lebron, Mo Williams, and Artest can ALL be paid for.

Battier and Artest in the same starting lineup is a playoff caliber team on the defense alone. Let's keep that tandem together.

He wanted an extension from a lottery Kings team. When they didn't give one, he was becoming a problem, so they traded him to Houston.

Artest said he wanted to be a Rocket. I trust him. Doubt he takes the MLE either.

If winning a championship is such a big deal for him, why did he ask Sac for a contract extension?

The Cavs can offer the full MLE for the full 6 years. That would guarantee him money even when he knows he can't play anymore. We may be offering more per year but I doubt Morey is going to give Ron a 6 year contract.
