I think Ron and his agent might be more realistic than people think. I think they won't overpay too much for a center; they'll stick to wanting decent value. And, with both Yao and Tracy coming off the cap in 2010, they could grab three, maybe four pretty good players. I wouldn't re-sign Yao at what he'll be wanting, given his injury history. I think they can be looking very good for 2010, and they will not want to over-reach for this season. FWIW, tanking wouldn't be a bad idea...

You can tell that Justice is subliminally a Ron hata, if you listen to him on 1560. I don't think he has an inside scoop on this, he's just giving a hunch, but his hunch is skewed by his opinion on what he would do with Ron if he ran the organization, not on how Morey / Adelman feel.
Yeh exactly. There is no scoop. In basically every negotiation the player is going to want more money than the manager wants to pay. To say that Morey is worried about signing artest because hes afraid artest will be unhappy goes against everything I've heard Morey say about Ron and vice versa. This "story" is nothing more than Justice airing his feelings about artest and he's never been shy about that.
Artest will probably be getting offers from teams that will actually contend next year. Why would he stay outside of just being a loyal dude?
This isn't good news. meaning the rockets are either thinking Yao will be out next year with his foot or he won't be back at all. Rockets is thinking of the 2011 big FA class.
I've been making this point for weeks. Ron thinks of himself as an elite player, deserving of a huge elite level contract, but he's not going to get it, and Morey is correct to be concerned over re-signing an unhappy Ron.
It's great news, because it indicates the Rockets aren't interested in becoming the NBA version of the Astros!
This guy calls himself a journalist? that was 100% speculation, and it wasn't even grounded in anything close to fact. I think about the only credible thing he said was how crazy Ron was, but considering his effort on the court, I think it's irrelevant. Dick Justice continues to disappoint me as an authority on anything sports related. What a freaking amateur.
well ron came to houston wanting to WIN. but with the situation with tmac and yao...even if the rockets signed Ron i dunno how long can he stay happy...what if the rockets go on a 5 game losing streak? will he start to hint and demand a trade? i dunno im torn between this decision too...i believe in morey and adelman to make the right decision(i hope).
Richard Justice information should be treated with the same skepticism as a random poster making a thread on this BBS claiming to have inside information. Sometimes he's right, a lot of times he's wrong, and he loves to pretend that when he's wrong he never said it to begin with. He flip flops all over the place, carries ENORMOUS personal vendettas over into his reporting, etc. I don't know what sources he has, but if really does have "good" sources, he elects not to use them as the basis of his reporting.
In my opinion, Ron Artest wants to be back in Houston because he sees the opportunity to make more money. With Yao and McGrady out, don't bet on Ron Artest not trying to take over this team. With so much young talent, he will try to dominate. And you have to realize that he started the season coming off the bench. I think the cold reality is that this team is going nowhere with Ron Artest as the first option. And as I have said on a previous post, look at what they could get if they spread that money around to several players instead of giving it all to Ron: Keith Bogans Antonio McDyess Ronald Murray
No, I think the risk DD speaks of is that Ron gets pissed about his contract and just starts doing whatever he wants...as in lots more of his awful isolation possesions and ignoring the offense. I still want to resign him, but it is a risk...especially if we start losing
