I thought it was a decent little write up that makes a lot of sense. Especially if we dont land Gortat.

yes, Antonio McDyess will be an execellent pickup for backup center. But don't if he would like to be here.

Really do love all this helpful advice.

Scola is a free agent after next season, just like Bosh. Now Bosh will command more but Scola is going to get a massive pay increase, and if you've got no choice but to throw a huge contract at that position, why not go for it and try to land Bosh?

Again, no creaky overpaid veterans who will only mess up our cap space and hurt our draft position.

    1. Clear cap space.
    2. Acquire young players.
    3. Try to hustle some future picks.

Those should be the main objectives this Summer, not trying to make some gallant one last run at the unattainable.

Nope, he has our situation wrong.

If we had Yao then McDyess would be good. He says we should get McDyess just to stay competitive? What purpose is it to just be competitive?

Without Yao and Tmac...the team needs all-stars. Dice isn't that, Bosh and Amar'e are. The Rockets have to believe that Yao and Tmac will not suit up for them next season, in that case we'd be a all-star less team AKA a lottery bound team.

OR we can get Amar'e or Bosh, AND keep Ron, and make a play towards Joe Johnson in 2010 or another FA and be contenders once again.

yes! let's start our rebuilding with mcdyess, and if we're lucky grant hill and eddie jones.

stoudamire and bosh may not play defense, but then again they never played in a defensive system. ray allen never played defense either, but he was part of the best defensive team in the league. those two guys can score... alot. the rockets even with yao had problems scoring. take yao, tmac, possibly ron and von off the team and we'd be lucky to top 80ppg and that's not an overstatement.

if the rockets have a chance at bosh or stoudamire, they better offer everything they have (including the toyota center, and the color red if need be) to get it done.

Why don't we just sign Gary Coleman to play Center for us while we are at it.

I'd rather throw my money at a young, promising true center (Gortat) than an old, near retirement forward that sometimes plays center.

Nothing against McDyess, but unless his contract was really small ($1 to $2 million), I can't see him being worthwhile in the long run.

it would be a stupid move to pick up Bosh or Amare via trade taht involves Scola.

McDyess is a last resort. We don't really need another 6'9" guy who works hard. Where will his minutes come from? You going to take minutes from Scola or Landry? He's a better defender than both but if it's defense you need then Hayes is better than McDyess by a mile.

We need a 7 footer. McDyess can't man the center position any better than the other PF we have on the team. No thanks.

I like him, but I'm surprised McDyess has lasted as long as he has...and I can't imagine he has too many years left in him - he's already into his "late career comeback". He's now at the falling off rapidly point in his career...certainly not anything we need.

We need All Stars. Hustle and chemistry is good, but marquee players get calls from refs and take big shots at the end of ballgames. There is no evidence of a successful team that didn't have at least a couple of all star quality players on their roster. To play for value and "moneyball" exclusively is suicide in the NBA and I'm sure Morey already knows that.
