I think the chance Gortat playing for the Rockets is low. one, Knicks and Dallas are pursuing Gortat hard. two, Magic could sign and trade Gortat.
I doubt it. I mean they traded for Carter. They are letting Turk walk. Why would they match an offer given to Gortat?? that would put them in salary cap hell.
One, neither can offer any more than the MLE. So pretty much everyone is on equal footing. Two, Magic will have to take back salary for a sign and trade, which salary will also hurt them on the luxury tax front.
I doubt that considering McGrady might be traded for Mobley and other crap to come here. IDK i think that's just a rumor
Some new suggestions from the readers of our blog: It is the only place, where you can train with Hakeem. Tylko u nas potrenujesz z Hakeemem Olajuwonem Here you want be the alternate. Here you will have alternates Tutaj nie bedziesz zmiennikiem. Tutaj bedziesz mial zmiennikow Ralph. Hakeem. Yao. Marcin Ralph. Hakeem. Yao. Marcin Best Michal
I'm not saying you do give the full MLE for that. My point is that Dalembert and Gortat are nothing alike except for the fact they both play Center.
I didn't realize their cap situation was so bad. They can't afford a full MLE guy. They're going to have to fill their roster with minimum guys and they're still going to be paying the LT.
And they both have abysmal offensive games they both get a the majority of thier points the garbage way putbacks blown assignments fast breaks........and gortats not worth the full mle and Dalembert is definetly not worth his huge contract either.
I like Gortat alot, but i wish they would pursue in a trade someone like Jordan of the clipps. They're overloaded at the 4/5 spots and when he played minutes when guys was injured, he performed pretty well. He's 20 and he only makes 800k. Just my thoughts, maybe they already tried to pursue him and was told no. The clipps might be might want to unload kaman and randolph first. Another big guy thats restricted on a team that are up against it is Fasenko from utah. Maybe you offer 2.5m and make Utah match and get them into lux tax area and then offer 2m to mbenga or mihm and do center by committee. At the very least, you have a young athletic, big in fasenko as a backup when and if yao ever comes back.
the knicks may not offer the full MLE i dont think the knicks are going to try to have any deals that are long term I can see the Rockets giving him full MLE for 3-5 years. Dallas can do the same but he would be playing center along with Hollins and Dampier. Would he start in Dallas? maybe he has a chance but he chances of playing more minutes are in Houston where he most likely will start and of course be the primary backup and will get a good amount of minutes (since I am sure they will limit Yao minutes per game from now on) once Yao is back. Also the Magic CANNOT sign and trade a restricted free Agent I believe without the players consent in that first year. I dont think the Magic want to give Gortat that sort of leverage
Richard Justice on 1560 right now. The relevant Gortat talk: Says Marcin was sincerely moved by all the emails. He read a lot of them and was amazed by how many he got (few hundred in the first few minutes...good job Morey and Clutchfans! - profjay) He wants playing time on a winning team, but his agent will have other ideas of course ($). Morey also showed up w/ a #13 jersey. Garcin was also moved by this. He's never been a sought after player until now. Morey didn't disclose the exact deal offered. Justice was emphatic about how Garcin was moved by the sentiments.
This feels a little like the Cato deal. Not quite as bad though. At least its not based on a preseason game.
Richard Justice also said that they did NOT offer Gortat the full MLE, but Gortat's agent said that other teams have offer the full MLE and one team offered more than the full MLE. He said that Morey will not go higher than his initial offer and will set a deadline for Gortat.
How much was Cato making per season? I don't think $5-$6M per year for a decent big is a lot. I could have sworn that it cost at least that to get a average bigman based on prior free agent signings. I'm just going off memory, but it seems like every year any young pivot on the market gets something in that range.
