Interesting clip from the bottom of another story -- but I'm not sure this means anything as far as the actual team goes. Story: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/bk/bkn/546532 The Clip: "Rockets hire James -- The Rockets have announced the hiring of Darrell James as director of human resources for the Rockets, Comets and ThunderBears." ------------------ Stay Cool...
Human resources? Doesn't that mean that he will be responisible for hiring secretaties and other "business" personell? ------------------ RocketFuel is taking the summer off!
who are the ThunderBears? That's the Houston Arena Football team that Les Alexander ownes. ------------------
Thunderbears was a CARTOON back in the 80s, you rememmber it went "Thunder Thunder Thunder Thunder BEARS!" ------------------ Robble robble robble HAMBURGLER in the HOUSE!!
In most companies, the Human Resources Director is one of the most important people in the company, often third or fourth on the food chain, after Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. In the Rocket's case, it's probably a little further down, after the coaches and marketing director. Normally, the HR Director would be responsible for hiring, firing, employee relations, employee development, benefits, and possibly payroll. Of course, with the Rockets / Comets / Thunderbears, the HR Director would have very little to do with the player side, beyond keeping track of thier employment information, benefits, etc. But he could have an impact on the organization on the Business side. I mentioned it because the Chronicle did. If anyone knows about the individual, it might tell a little more about how serious the team is about staying. Someone with say, strong ties to the community, probably woudn't sign on if there was a good chance of moving. If the person was hired from out of the area, it could mean anything. ------------------ Stay Cool...
