If Morey can have a team of $35 million give the Lakers a run for their money then imagine what he can do if given $40 million in 2010. Look next season is a wash out anyway even if Yao or McGrady make it back late next spring, we are not going to win a championship. My Plan. (Painful) 1) Don't re-sign Artest. 2) Offer Wafer a one year deal. 3) Let T-Mac's contract expire. 4) Trade Yao to a team for an expiring contract and future draft picks. Basically we reduce all liabilities for next summer and we called it a season. Tank if you think John Walls is a realistic possiblity in the draft. Give Morey a ton of cash next summer so he can find star players and add a ton of depth using his system. Make a run a one or two top tier free agent ie Wade, Melo or Bosh and then use rest of the cash on MoreyBall players to fill each spot with young talent and depth. His system finds the best player for the money so I have confidence he will find multiple gems in the free agency market at cheap prices.
I have a really hard time seeing a team trade for Yao and give up future draft picks in doing so. Something about that "R" word has a tendency to scare teams. I'm of the opinion that we need to do whatever it takes to stay afloat and wait for Yao to come back down the line. Of course, this strategy is dependent upon these reports on Yao being exaggerated (like some are suggesting). IF Yao is looking like he'll 100% be back at some point next season, I think you use McGrady's contract and any other combination of assets to make adjustments accordingly.
Who is the top prospect in next years draft? I agree with your moves. But I think we need to get Bosh as well.
Yes, thank you. Imagine TMac comes off the books just when we finally give up on Yao's foot and then Morey leaves to make more $ elsewhere. Back to the days of The Whopper.
it's definitely an idea but i don't like the tanking part. it's cheating and i don't want the rockets to cheat. plus, we gotta got a whole season watching the team lose games purposely. sucks
