Yao will turn 30 this year. If you don't think Yao could contribute to a championship team in the 10/11 season and beyond playing less minutes or taking some weight off his frame, you are mistaken! We know Yao's spirit. He wants a championship. That's what drives him and makes him such a great hard worker. So as long as Yao can physically do it, he may play til he is 36. Go ahead Yao! Take some freakin' rest and maybe lose some weight in a more natural timeframe. Oh yeah....and come back and smash on the NBA. =)

As for our organtization, this gives us a great opportunity to make our relationship even stronger with Yao and not just that, Morey may also have some weight to reconstruct his contract or wait til next season to create a new one. Either way, keep him a Rocket of course. He needs to remain here til his jersey goes up.

Again, Yao is only 30. If he goes through with surgery and takes a season off, let him. Instead of just waiting a few months and going back at it. It would suck this season but think about the future.

    You rock Yao.

P.s. kobe and kg will be a little older when Yao comes back fresh. Forget Lebron...you need a big man. Whose gonna stop us? Blake Griffin or Thabeet?

So what makes Yao more viable than T-Mac in terms of reliability?

Yao seems to get a pass on being as injury prone, if not more so than T-Mac. At least T-Mac's injury has been ongoing and agitated by being pressured to play hurt. Yao's injuries are repeating AFTER being totally healed.

I'm hoping T-Mac can come back and blow up next season.

    Keep Yao- rebuild the team.

Yao has been a great player and human being for the Houston Rockets. Whatever happens we need to pay the price to keep him a Rocket until he retires, whether that is later this year or in 3-4 years.

If at all possible I love the legacy of Bagwell and Biggio- start and finish with your team.

Yao may not play much for us ever again, but don't let him play for anyone else.

I want to see his jersey retired and I want him to continue to be a Rocket til the end.

We will just have to rebuild around his situation.
Do not trade him and hopefully if he recovers and desires to play again we can make the contract situtation work at that time.

yao can not be the focal point superstar the rockets build around. you can't rely on him to be that.

We've been "thinking about the future" WRT Yao for 7 years now. What have we got in return? 1 playoff series victory.

SCRAP this T-Mac/Yao idea once and for all! It's time to start over.

I agree, Rockets have great players on each position and without the always hurt duo they have space for another two All Star players that are probably more suitable for Princeton offense that Rick Adelman is implementing in Houston.

The problem is that Leslie Alexander will not give up on neither of players, both Yao or TMac so Rockets main focus this offseason is to find big man to replace Yao while he's hurt, sign Ron Artest or another free agent and hope that McGrady and Yao come back and play like they're paid to.

I pretty much think it is over for Yao.
    He is currently untradeable.

And it is time to move on.

I just want him to finish a Rocket.

Okay, so they're both injury-prone and their futures are in question. Still...

Yao is a team-oriented, bust his a$$ to improve, try hard all the time kinda guy.

    T-Mac is T-Mac.

What if these 2 things can't both happen?

We have to do what is best for the team. For sentimental reasons I hope Yao finishes his career a Rocket.

But whatever it takes we have to rebuild the team.

Fate forcing your hand and preventing a slow painful dissolution is usually a good thing, yes. But this is far from the best thing to happen to Yao and the Rockets.

We were on the brink of finally climbing all the way out of the crummy era we sank into post-Drexler. This loss could slide us back into years of 40-win mediocrity hell, depending on how the dice roll.

And I would never want to see Yao's career end via medical retirement (as expected as it may be).

I can agree with half of what you say.

I would like to see Tmac blowup!
