Here's a couple of scenarios where the Rox can still contend in the West

Plan A. : Trade McGrady to Detroit for Prince and Hamilton
    Resign Ron
    Sign Mehmet Okur

    Lineup would look like:

    Brooks/Lowry
    Hamilton/Battier
    Artest/Prince/Battier
    Scola/Landry
    Okur/Dorsey

Plan B: Trade Mcgrady, Landry to Toronto for Bosh/Marcus Banks
    Resign Ron
    Sign Gortat

    Lineup

    Brooks/Lowry
    Battier/White/Budinger
    Artest/Battier
    Scola/Bosh
    Bosh/Gortat

Plan C: Trade McGrady to Clippers for Camby/Kaman
    Resign Ron
    Sign Okur

    Brooks/Lowry
    Battier/Taylor/White
    Artest/Battier
    Scola/Landry
    Okur/Camby/Kaman

Ron is all about the dollars. He'll sign with the highest bidder. Rockets just have to wait and see what his market value is.

You know why Gortat would be good for this team? Who is our tallest player now that Yao is out?

Might not be worth re-signing to a multi-year contract, without Yao.

lmao to the reaction on this board. It's obviously a 2 yr offer for 3.5 MIL that wafer got. Why the heck would Morey offer him more money than carl landry?
    Use ur brain guys..........

    these reactions are shameful........ :D

This would be Von's agent I think. Von just hasn't come off as being a smart guy and probably thought his agent was making the right move. But 3.5 mill, what more can he ask for, especially after all the stints he's had over the years and the incident with Adelman?

If he listen to his agent and turned down 3.5 mill, I say let his ungrateful ass leave.

i dont think the deal was for 3.5 million a year. knowing DM, he probably offered 3.5 million over 2 or 3 years, trying to get a bargain. hopefully the two sides can agree on terms that will work for both.

Gortat wouldnt be bad for the right price. I definitely dont think he is worth more than 4 million a year. He had some good games, but nothing that warrants 6/7 million a year.

3.5M over 2 years how does he NOT turn it down?

He was our only offense off the bench. You're telling me a team out there won't offer him 2M a year, which we didn't even offer?

We can't blame him for turning it down

That's if, it was over 2 years

Bogut? He's the only untouchable player on the Bucks roster.

How can Wafer rejected the offer? I thought any team cannot make contract negotiations to any free-agent until July 1st? I maybe mistaken... :)

Our Draft picks were indications Wafer ain't resigning. Unless of course other teams don't want to offer more.

I strongly believe this kid, Von Wafer, lacks a brain. Almost like JR Smith, can do lots of things but no IQ.

weird DD hasnt chimed it maybe its because it portrays his guy in a bad light

there are 2 things about this

if the deal was anywhere in the 3-3.5 million dollar range/year both he and the Rockets are stupid. The Rockets stupid for offering him that much and Wafer turning it down.

I suspect its more along the lines of 3.5 for 2 years or so which i can see why Wafer would turn that down I think Wafer is worth ~2 million dollars. I can see where Wafer is coming from on this Les just paid out 2 million to get 3 second round picks, 2 of whom may come in and take his spot (most likely not but they may) off the bench and so why should he get paid less than them, or at least what it cost to get them?

If it is 3.5 total for 2 years (I doubt the Rockets would super lowball him at 3.5 for 3 years) then I can see him scoffing at that.

Honestly I think the Rockets have some leverage here and should offer Wafer something reasonble to the tune of ~ 2 million per year otherwise they can wait to see if either Taylor or Budinger can develop to be the scoring threats off the bench.

And of course there is James White

he was earning 800k right? so he got a raise with that 3.5m even if it were for 3 yrs. that's guaranteed money right there. with our sg starting position up for grabs, he should make the most out of it and use the year as a bargaining chip.

if i were him, he take the money if it were 2 yrs. 2nd yr should be a player's option. that way he can prove to the other teams that he deserves a bigger pay and he can opt out of the 2nd year especially if the economy improves. now is not the time to get greedy.
