    sportscenter is right and wrong.

they are right in that the injury situation was confused slightly by the communications between the doctors and the team.

they are wrong in that the injury situation is not exaggerated. the bone indeed went from cracked to completely broken, while it was supposed to be healing. this is a situation that, depending on the avenue chosen to attempt to rejoin the bone, could keep Yao out for an extended period of time. it is also the type of injury that could end his career, as major foot problems have done to many big men before Yao.

Who said Yao want to (or would even be allowed to) play with a broken bone? Just because Yao would rather take the non-surgical option doesn't mean that he plans to play if it doesn't heal.

Yes I get that , BUT the key word is he THINKS.
we have many more reasons to believe the original report (including our own insider info).

Finally DM using the media to regain some of the leverage he lost....when this story broke.

DM needs to pick up his Media and Medical IQ!

i think its more in DM's best interest for the Yao injury to be percieved as career ending than otherwise.

teams are more likely to do a trade with a team going nowhere than they are to give a contending team a key/final piece to push them over the top.

we are not talking about free agents here, where they would choose Houston. they will be traded here, so its the perception of their GM that matters, not the perception of the player.

After everything that has happend the last 5 or 6 years(injuries), as a fellow Rockets fan this time I refuse to fall for this!!

I mean this is not a freaking nursery home.

I like the guy, BUT I like the Rockets more.

Looks like we have to wait for Yao's 2nd opinions this week. Decent job of damage control by the Rockets, considering they have no idea what's going on with Yao.

I wonder who that GM that leaked the story to Woj. was. Did that guy just want to screw with the Rox? Or was it more than one guy.

Sorry...I meant that teams know that with Yao's injury we are desperate. So they hold the cards.... I think a couple of other new outlets running similar stories should get rid of that misconception.

There are a lot of leaks with the rockets...Trcy's not telling the management, this story... Rockets have either a snitch or some one that has no idea what the hell they are doing.

    From Clutch's twitter:

"Wish I listened 2 the guy who told me on Draft Day there were whispers of the R-word (retirement) for Yao http://bit.ly/WFRU6about 7 hours ago from web"

Maybe it's Steve Kerr. He was after all "one of them", ie writer for Yahoo Sports.

Very interesting tweet by Clutch. We need to have an official "Clutch's Tweets" thread.

Hm-m-m? How do you go from one of the doctors who spoke with the media saying, "his foot could shatter", to "meh, overreaction"?

This reinforces my feeling that the Rockets don't have good medical/nutritional training staff. Yao needs to find someone on his own, like McGrady did with Patterson in Waco. I would suggest Dr. Glen Luepnitz at Lone Star Oncology in Austin, Tx. He has worked with Olympic athletes (Dara Torres being one).

Yao, PLEASE get in contact with him ASAP. I think he can help your foot to heal without surgery. You have nothing to lose but a few hours traveling to Austin and listening to his opinion.

Dude, Yao is being taken on a tour of the best specialists in the country before they even decide a course of action. Lighten up.

Whoever it is they just made trading Tracy McGrady more difficult. Lottery teams have been declining Morey's offers of McGrady...

If it is true he will miss next season, we could be in limbo. Maybe get Boozer, Amare, or Bosh to fill in that spot? That means we have to trade my t-mac?

Or we could follow in the footsteps of the Spurs when they lost Robinson. Dynasty, here we come.
