agree to disagree i love AB and am fine if we keep him and our nucleus or trade for Rubio just sad to hear about Yao and hopefully rest is the answer. Interesting to see if it will be Ron and the gang until the All star break with a healthy Yao and Mac coming in for a long playoff run or if the roster is overhauled or we trade Mac for another superstar good thing is we have options and a young nucleus.

Yeah, but the problem is when they shouldve added a young upside player, they didn't. At least we would have another good young player to help this turnover or use as trade bait.

And based on your track record, that's not good news for AB.

The "whole point" is to win a championship. To that end the Lakers have 3 Max or near-Max players. ORL had 2 and now 3 with Carter. CLE has LBJ, Mo Williamd, Z, and Wally Z, the Celtics have 3, and the Spurs have 4 and the Pistons when they were hot had 3.

If you think collecting a $6M Battier puts you in the same league as any of the above, we can agree to disagree.

People think ths is a bad move for Morey, however that's only before knowing about the Yao news.

If Morey was already anticipating this news, then the Rubio trade is smart. He is THE FUTURE!

You HAVE to figure one of the beasts that will be available in 2010 will be salivating to play alongside Rubio.

It's a move for the future, and a damn smart one.

I wonder if Memphis and Minny realized the potential Yao problems and played hardball with Morey to squeeze more out of the deals.

Also, if Yao is done and Minny agrees to deal, will Rubio give the same treatment now to Houston and say he'd rather play in Europe than for the Rockets? The dude (and his consorts) seems like the type who'd try to avoid a rebuilding team.

Morey's got a tough road ahead of him. Good luck.

But now it's obvious this isn't Yao's team anymore. Now you can't go as far as to say this would be Rubio's team, but it very well could be in a year or two. That alone would probably more enticing than anything, not to mention the talent you could surround around him.

I'd love for something to get done, to be honest. This team NEEDS something to happen soon with all this Yao news. We need some new hope. These 2nd Rounders and clammering of heart and hustle isn't enough.

If Morey can do the deal, Rubio will play here.

I hope you're right. If Brooks and Battier isn't getting it done, I wonder how much more Morey will sweeten the pot for Minny..

To be honest, to a Rockets fan (especially the die hards), giving up Brooks and Battier for Rubio seems like sacrilegious but to the rest of the league, it's essentially the Rockets dealing two good players for a player who's potential might get into All-Star status any beyond.

I'm not THAT high on Rubio and what we offered isn't something that would have kept me up at nights even if the trade DID go through.

To me, the offer was more of a "feeler" offer to see what Minny would want.

Morey: "hmm we'll give him our young and cheap starting point guard and our glueguy/vet and see if they budge because, i mean, that's pretty much what THEY gave up to get the #5 pick"

If Morey truly is that serious about Rubio, he might sweeten the pot with Scola. This hasn't been touched on yet, but Scola will be a free agent after next season and might prove too expensive to bring back.

That may entice them but as its been said, our "strong" trading chips is what they already have. So to give them Scola, well they dont need him because they have Love and Jefferson. If you offer Brooks, they have Flynn and Telfair.
