You don't understand the philosophy of quality health care. We have the best health care in the world, hands down. Its expensive, but its the best. What you're failing to understand is that our "poor" health care is found at clinics and hospitals that are primarily non profit, VA's, and mostly medicare/medicate patients.
Prices are escalating at several times the rate of inflation, though. What's the point of having the best health care if no one can afford it?
Why not just say we have the best health care for people who have money. I am sure the dictators in Africa have great health care.
The point is that it IS out there. If you socialize it 100% (and i am fully aware that is not the current intentions, but it will eventually happen), then your remove any incentive for our best and brightest to practice. All you will have are DPS drone like doctors or foreign doctors who are more than happy to take below market wages. Even though most of us never get to see the best and brightest doctors, we often receive the benefits of their practices.
