Because Rubio won't play in where it's cold.

That is why the Spurs have championships recently.

Sometimes it is best to let young players (Manu and Tony Parker) grow into their games.

I hope the Rockets don't give up on Brooks in only his 2nd year...and having started only 36 games or so......

Just let the players grow and add pieces.

I too like Rubio...a lot...this is way to much to trade for him, IMO.

Notwithstanding whatever we might also get when we trade McLazy's contract?

We can't honestly believe that Morey isn't working to get value for Tracy while also seeing if he can get Ricky Rubio.

I honestly don't think Rubio will be that great for a couple years, but he'll get there. What if he impacts this team the way Brandon Roy (the one that got away) would have?

I would think that if Rubio is going to be great in this league he would have to be really good THIS season. Physically, he isn't starting with much. He's not very fast, he can't jump really high, he isn't particuarly strong, and he has narrow shoulders. With his already shaky oustide jumper, he'll have to prove he's a solid finisher before NBA defenses will adjust to allow for his crafty passes.

For a player like Rubio there's a small possibility for him to be a really good player but his potential is so high that Morey seems intent on taking that chance.

...and I think it's an obvious sell high move to trade Brooks and Shane. I think we played teams that put both players in a favorable light.

Hmmm... the Rockets were going to trade Battier and Brooks (or Landry) for the 2nd pick (presumably to select Rubio) and Rudy Gay.

I wonder if the Rockets are now seeking someone useful other than just Rubio back from Minny. Perhaps Love and Jefferson?

    Rubio is quick enough fellas.

He'll be a star. I saw Clyde play in HS and knew it. I saw Akeem at Fonde and knew it. I saw Rubio on Youtube and know it.

As others have said, Morey's trying to do this deal without it affecting another deal for McGrady. Think how cool it is that we've got a GM and owner who aren't afraid to pursue these kinds of deals.

That would have been a stupid move. We need a pg that can shoot. I don't think this kid is ready to play now in this league but i could be wrong.

Minny would be dumb to give up either one of those. They are the future of that team. It'd be more like us taking back a Brian Cardinal.

Brooks and Battier is a lot to give, and it got turned down, do people seriously think trading for Rubio will improve the team? It is going to cost a lot (Assuming Morey didn't initially ask for something like Bat+AB fo Rubio and big Al)

yet he has been a very good defensive player which is another reason why i think the rockets are high on him.

"Were going to"? The Grizzlies rejected that trade (rightly so as it was a ripoff for them), not the Rockets. Slight difference.

You should ask Morey. Some people will like a deal or "approve" a deal because he likes it or wants in done, and as they say, In Morey we Trust! :)

Who says the Rockets were making a trade proposal that they think Minnesota (or Memphis) would accept?

Very well could be testing the waters just to see what's going on. GMs talk all the time, but rarely does a deal actually get consummated.

Honestly I don't know enough about Rubio to say whether he's worth all this attention or not, but like you, I like Morey's (reported) aggressiveness. He's knows the value of Brooks and Battier are high right now, so kudos for trying to take advantage and go after what he wants. And even if Morey doesn't succeed, it's not a bad way to gauge and generate interest in these players for future trades.

Fair enough, the way you phrased it just sounded like you were saying the Rockets could have made the memphis trade if they wanted to, but changed their minds.
