So, it's not actually our team... but we will be running it as such??

Yeah, that's the advantage over what the Lakers, Spurs and Thunder did, since they actually bought NBDL teams. Pretty good deal for the Rockets.

    Definitely.

I really like the Reed guy who's running the NBDL now. Very savvy.

So I am guessing this means that no other team will be affiliated with the Vipers anymore... wasn't there a couple of other teams before that would send players to them? ( I am out of touch on NBDL stuff from the last year or so. )

another waste of time and money. i keep seeing the rockets say how scientific they are but it never shows on the court. other teams in the league commit themselves to what works...far less boasting of using a new science....and they win.

i see this charade coming down soon. everyone is getting better around them while they dabble with calculations.

WTF? Morey has never stopped looking for moves that could improve the team. And we keep improving every single year with the addition of Scola, Artest, Brooks, Landry and Lowry...and you are saying BS like this?

Well, we could just go back to what we were doing before DM came in: Sucking and not advancing past the first round.

I think this is a great idea that we get to run our players into a system we can control. It sucks that the rules say the players we draft and want to send to NBADL has to take up a roster spot. Hopefully when the new CBA comes around, they can change that.

The Evolution on Pro Basketball folks.

Best way to get you kids and your healing pros back in shape. I knew I'd see a farm system come into play for basketball eventually.

    HAHAHAHAH !!!

    Leeb...where are you?

We talked about how smart San Antonio was for doing this...and finally the Rockets follow suit.

    Good move...albeit late.

About damn time! With the partnership model just becoming available, this will also likely give the Rockets all the competitive advantages that NBDL team ownership gives the Lakers and Spurs, but without the extra financial outlays. One more advantage that Les and Morey's smart management has produced.

DD, does this change your opinion of the draft picks even just a LITTLE bit??? With the Rockets' in control of the Vipers' basketball operations, Jermaine Taylor, Chase Budinger and Joey Dorsey will have opportunities to get major minutes working within Adelman's system during the season. By the end of the regular season, each of them will have gained valuable experience that none of us originally anticipated they would have.

Big time move. This is a much bigger deal than most people realize.

better late than never. the rockets and les finally figured it out. the lakers did it, then the spurs... not bad teams to follow. this is the BEST way to find unknown players who can fit well in this system. much more efficient than signing the best nbdl player and hoping he pans out.

Actually, from the article, the Rockets are the first team to have full control of everything. I got the assumption that the other clubs such as the Spurs own the affiliate team, but do not control day to day activities.

Smart move by the Rockets. This increases the chances we'll get more players like Von Wafer contributing. Guys that come up through the D-League and out of nowhere make a difference. Some inspired play in spot minutes by reserves could be the difference in a few wins. Morey is always looking to improve at the margins.
