[NYDailyNews] Rockets Offer Brooks And Battier For Rubio

Nobody likes Battier because only a few people know how valuable he really is. There's a downside to picking undervalued players as well...most teams see the treasure you picked up as trash. Morey could probably try showing Kahn his sophisticated models showing Battier would help his team win X more games, but all of that data would probably just go over Kahn's head

 

That's true,but Minny can get better offers than him and Brooks.

 

I don't know, if you already have a core of young players you're set on building around, Battier is just the type of veteran you'd be looking for. A hard-working professional who leads by example, rarely takes a play off, plays tough, smart defense, and can be an on-the-court coach for the younger guys, making sure they get into the offensive/defensive sets. Plus, his salary is very reasonable. What's not to like?

 

I've heard that several teams are interested but I've only heard of NY and Houston involved in rumors! If it's just between us and NY, surely we have more to offer than the Knicks! I really,really, want Rubio here and apparently Daryl Morey is just as motivated to get him here. Hopefully we don't give up too much, but I think we will land him. We just have to wait it out a bit and find a more appealing offer. Probably future draft picks or one of our rookies after a breakout performance at Summer League.

 

I'm also curious if Battier is only being shopped to land Rubio or if he can be had for other offers.(first he was offered to Memphis for the #2 pick and now this!) It's starting to sound like we are definitely going to shake things up!

 

You can be sure when Morey makes an initial offer the first player mentioned is McGrady. Problem is, nobody is biting on that.

 

What Rocket offered was ridiculous. Timberwolve turned it down was more ridiculous. A slim PG who can't shoot the ball from 15 fts cost 2 proven offensvie and defensive units. That's crazy.

I don't think that this trade rumor is legit. Consider the source. I think that someone from Minnesota planted this rumor in a NY paper in order to get NY to improve their offer.

I'd love to have Rubio, but we must keep Battier under all circumstances. He is one of the leaders of this team.

 

I think he's just high on Rubio. They offer T-Mac first up, but are declined. Then they make their best offer which includes Battier...

Rubio is so undervalued on Clutchfans that its not even funny.

 

1. He's white.

2. He's "a Euro".

3. This is clutchfans.

4. Ergo, according to 99% of the board he automatically "sucks".

rubio is a project, he has off the chart basketball IQ, but he is slow, skinny, and bad (and slow) jumpshot, morey shouldnt pursue him because we need to win RIGHT NOW!!

i also hope this is a rumor. I wouldmuch rather keep brooks and battier especially when rubio dont even know if he is going to continue to start a carreer in the nba this year yet.

 

Rubio running down the court with Wafer and Landry is nice to think about

If you thought Rafer is bad, i suggest you roo tfor another team if Rubio joins the team.

 

This Rubio kid sounds like nothing but a bunch of hype IMO.

 

We don't, this is what they call a rumor.

 

1) We don't know if this is true.

2) DM isn't desperate. The only proposals he makes are ones that he is sure will improve us. He doesn't really need to do more than tinker around the edges (backup C, SG or vet PG), but he will pull the trigger on any trade of value.

3) Obviously we would have to take back more contracts from Minn to make the numbers work. Who were the other players?

 

oh man, I have hope for a battier, landry and jermain talyor for Rubio and fillers.
And then AB and Tmac for Amare.

But the trade makes no sense for Minny who have what 5 PGs?
