Ricky has talent, I have concerns with his lack of speed and shooting although the latter can improve. He also needs to get stronger. However, the thing that somewhat surprised me was his hissy attitude about not wanting to play in Minnesota. I know we got Steve Francis, but that shows immaturity and is a red flag for me.

If these reports are to be believed, it's interesting that Morey's now offering up Battier and Brooks for Rubio and perhaps fillers, and yet on draft night, he didn't think Battier and Landry was enough for the #2 pick (which would've netted Rubio) and asked for Rudy Gay to be included in the deal, which Memphis refused.

I'da turned it down too if I were the Wolves. The next Maravich/Magic/Kidd if thats what I'm selling should get back more than an average-to-decent point guard and veteran defender. Its not about getting back equal returns or filling out the team, its seeing if anyone else buys into the hype and offers a legit talent

Oh yeah, because everything has pointed out that Les is a penny pinching dude who only cares about money. This is 100% a talent issue. DM obviously thinks Rubio is a prodigy matched only by MJ and LBJ, which is crazy considering his lack of shooting and athletecism. Still I trust Morey with all my heart so if he wants Rubio THAT badly, I hope he pays everything to get him

First of all, it is STUPID that the Wolves didn't want this trade. Battier and Brooks have proved they're awesome players. Second, Rubio is NOT going to play for you guys anyway!! He's thinking about staying in Europe!! Third, i am surprised that Rox think too highly of this kid and that they're willing to give up Battier...a premier best perimeter defender in the NBA.

well it is Chris Wallace afterall. Maybe he was trying to lowball him in hopes he would bite? The dude offered to trade for Randolph after all...

    I think you're right!

Still, I'd love for someone in the media to ask little Ricky what he thinks about the idea of playing in Houston.

Agreed. I'm not sure if this prima donna-like attitude is coming straight from Rubio and not his camp, but the growing pains he'll likely have at the PG spot are enough for me to not want him.

i dont know how credible that previous offer may be, i think this one was legit, the other one, not so sure....but then again, memphis is probably more likely to agree to a one sided offer than minnesota based on their most recent moves..

Maybe you're right. But now that I think it, I'm starting to doubt Landry and Battier would've been enough for Memphis, regardless of Gay. I give Wallace a little more credit than that...I think.

although i think it's a solid offer, they probably think a more desperate team would give them more....but i think they should be able to flip both brooks and shane to another team for younger pieces that fit them better. Brooks is definitely late lottery talent right now, at least. shane could be sent to a needy contender for younger player as well.

Battier's value is at an all-time high and nobody will give us anything decent in return for him. This is on top of the fact that no rumors have surfaced in which other teams have approached the Rockets in regards to trying to acquire Battier.

Yeah, I have to much more skeptical about these trade rumors. It took me half a year to stop cursing Morey for not jumping on the non-existent Billups/Hamilton for McGrady offer. :)

I agree. Not to mention the kid isn't even going to play in the NBA this year, it looks like. This seriously sounds like a r****d move.

Now we know why Shane is described as a glue guy, because the Rockets are stuck with him!

If he's the starting PG for the Rockets.......trust me, he'll play this year.

Morey recently said something along the lines of "Teams don't even bother asking for Battier anymore because they know we won't include him in any trades".

Maybe he just said that to increase Battier's value, or it might actually be true.

The thing is Battier is far more valuable for up and coming teams trying to break out, rather than lottery teams like Minnesota. The latter are always trying to pick up young and exciting talent, while the former is more concerned with the small details (like hustle, leadership, defence). I would've been overjoyed if that trade went down, provided we resign Artest, since we don't need any more scorers on this team, we need somebody to distribute the ball.
