Hey! Isn't that the gas station with Luby's on the other side of OST and MDA research buildings on the other side of Fannin? I gas up there sometimes. Hmmm.. will keep my eyes out for Dorsey. Nice job.

One more time. Just heard Todd Wright on Sporting news say he knows someone in Detroit office that says Dumars wants T Mac badly. How reliable that is I don't know

I was thinking about the possibility of Detroit taking Tmac.

Some posters state, "But Detroit will be well under the salary cap this year," blah blah blah. "Why would they want Tmac's contract?"

Because Tmac, when he is healthy, would pair perfectly with the guy Detroit wants to sign, um, what's his name? I'm tired---Ben Gordon, 6'2" shooting guard for the Bulls, UFA this year?

If Tmac comes back healthy, perfect match. You throw the year away to a degree waiting for Tmac's return. If he's back all the way, which he should be, then you can sign him on for a new contract, and maybe still have some $$$ in 2010 to add a guy at the MLE.

If he isn't back all the way, you can go after Bosh, Stoudemire, whomever's available.

I'm wondering who they are willing to give up if this is true. Rip and Prince may be alot to ask for but the dollars work

If Rasheed's choices are down to either the Magic or Spurs. The most those teams can offer is the MLE but it's more than likely he's only getting vet min offers.

    Multiple (3) team trade:

    McGrady → Hamilton + Rasheed (S&T $6.3M for 1yr contract) + rights to Jerebko
Lowry → Pistons under cap, absorb salary

    Brooks + Landry + Cook + Hayes + Dorsey + White (non-guaranteed) + rights to Budinger → Nash
Suns send Hayes + Cook → Pistons under cap, absorb salary

I'm thinking Hamilton and a S&T of Rasheed Wallace, mentioned in the post above mine, is more likely. That way Dumars gets back something for Wallace instead of losing him for nothing.

Sheed of old is something we need, just not convinced he has game or cares anymore. Looked up stats for Hamilton and Prince and was somewhat suprised Prince had better shooting numbers. Prince 45% 39.7 3pt% Hamilton 44.7% 36.8 3pt.%. Although I do like Hamilton's mid range game

Trading Battier w/ Tmac to Detroit would be ok to me as long as we get also Prince and Rip

I'm just talking about what Dumars will likely offer and not my personal preference. Houston may want Prince but it seems more likely Dumars will offer Sheed.

Personally, the size and lengths of Hamilton's and Wallace's (potential) contracts scares me a bit. OTOH, a roster of, say, Brooks/Hamilton/Battier/Wallace/Yao and a second unit of Lowry/Artest/Scola/rookies would be pretty darn sweet - for at least a season or two.

12 million a year for ron? No way he is worth that much change. He had a decent year but let someone else pay him that much. When Yao went down and he had to shoulder the load, he failed, big time.

For me, if they really wanted T-Mac to be gone, he'd be gone by now (before the Draft).

Very creative trade but I don't like it. Nash, Hamilton, Yao, Sheed, Battier doesn't seem like Lakers beaters to me, even at full strength I think we'd still get pwned in a 7 game series by the Kobe, Gasol, Odom and Bynum 4-headed monster. Heck, I don't think that lineup could even take the Spurs at full strength.

More importantly, you're essentially betting everything on two injury prone players. Considering Nash is already battling back problems and Yao Ming's foot hasn't even healed that's not a gamble I want to make. We have a really nice mix of youth and Vets right now, if we do your trade we'd be in the same boat as the Celts, except we haven't even won a ring yet.

Don't get Dumars wanting Tracy confused with Dumars wanting Tracy's expiring contract.

When the rumors were flying about a proposed Tracy for Billups/Sheed (expiring) trade this year, word leaked out that they wanted to dump as much salary as possible (especially with AI's huge contract also expiring) so that they can go after TWO 2010 free agents. The whispers then were DWade and CBosh.

Dumars wouldn't give a flying flip if Tracy ever suited up for them if they traded for him. They want that contract so that they can make a HUGE splash next offseason.

That being said, when we didn't make that move, Dumars knew he would be in a bind this offseason because aside from Rip, Prince and Kwame Brown, they don't have any other contracts worthwhile to offer.

Trading Rip is a definite because of the length (which isn't bad at 3 yrs) but if he REALLY wants Tracy's contract he'll now have to come off of Rip AND Prince which has to make him think a little. Prince would look good next to those two but the question is how bad does he want DWade and CBosh IF those are the two that he's targeting?

That also being said, I would jump at that deal in a minute. Getting Prince will allow us to let Ron walk, Rip solves our SG spot for the next few years (maybe Jermaine can learn a thing or two). I'd also be inclined to flip Battier/AB (and whomever else) and a future for Rubio, Etan Thomas or Darius Songalia (for Backup C) and Rodney Carney (SF to bakup Prince). I think Lowry can manage the point until Rubio can handle it.
