From my another thread "Yao Ming news update", you can find the director of CBA, Xin Lancheng says such things like this: "CBA hopes that Yao Ming's life, individual security and dignity in USA can be guaranteed." I can understand what is "life" and "security". But I am a little confused about "dignity". What is dignity? What kind of things in this guy¡¯s mind that would offend Ming¡¯s dignity? These are some cases: 1. The journalists in America criticize Ming sharply. 2. The audience say bad words to Ming when he shows up. 3. The crowd on the street shout ¡°teethstick¡±, or ¡°chopstick¡± or ¡°chinaman¡± to Ming 4. Houston Rockets refuse the requirement of Ming that he wants to have a bike to be his transportation vehicle. 5. Francis or Mobley don¡¯t pass the ball to Ming on the court 6. A reporter says Ming is dating Madonna. 7. Ming¡¯s photo is on the cover of a p*rn magazine. ¡¡¡ Just for fun. Don¡¯t take it seriously.
Xin Lancheng says such things like this: "CBA hopes that Yao Ming's life, individual security and dignity in USA can be guaranteed." --It shows the difference in these two cultures and societies. Sometimes the officials in China do not have a clue about what they are saying. It shows that they were trained during Culture Revolution. --While all the fans should be patient with Yao's transition to NBA, the officials in China should especially be more patient.
