Gortat seems like a full MLE guy, so the Rockets could do that (if Less refuses after paying 6 mil for some 2nd rounders, that would suck). Turkoglu to Houston makes too much sense. He loves Adelman, knows the system, etc. Not sure what we could trade for Turk (I'd love to keep the Battier/Artest monster together), but an S 'n' T seems possible.

Turkoglu would be a great fit here, though a $10 million/5 year contract does give me pause.

But a SG/SF rotation of Turkoglu/Battier/Artest with the two rookies getting spot minutes sounds like a solid plan. (Sorry, but no Wafer.)

How generous of you! I've only read the last two pages of this thread and it seems like a waste to repeat BMoney's thorough owning of your argument (were you seriously putting Portland's drafts against Houston's when they were drafting repeatedly in the top ten and our top pick was in the low 20's?!).

Morey is probably the best thing that's happened to this franchise since Hakeem Olajuwon. In case you were sleeping, we just took the world champion Lakers to 7 games with no Yao, no McGrady, no Deke. The Rockets are one of the top five teams in the league without their two max players. Think that might have anything to do with the role players? Well, Morey put them there.

You look like a fool pretending to know better than him.

So do we get a award for taking the champs to 7 games or did i miss the boat? Oh, i see, u are one of those new generational people. I bet u had timeout instead of ass whippings. I bet when you had a bad day, you sat in your mothers lap and was rubbed on the head instead of being told you have to be tougher. I bet you played sports and got handled or came in last and still got a ribbon. Yeah go ahead and feel good about not winning and fall back on we took the champs to 7 games.

I give credit were and when it is due, not just cause it looks shiny. My point is a good gm pulls all stars out his ass. how many all stars or even near all stars have morey drafted? I can tell you pritchard drafted the same year houston traded the lotto pick. I can also tell you aldridge is closer to making a alll star than anyone else morey has drafted also. What about Buford in Sa? TP and Manu drafted past 28, all stars. What about Dumars.? He blew darko, yet he got prince late, traded hill and stack in their prime and got hamilton and wallace and signed chauncey for the mle. Thats what great gm's do.

Wow. Never mind. Your first paragraph proves you're an ass.

This is why I stay out of the GARM.

There is more irrational poo flinging here than in the D&D.

Your argument sucks but you suck worse. So I'm not going to waste time arguing with you.

Keep hating on the Rockets and their GM if it makes you feel better, no matter how well they do.

    Where has Morey fallen short?

He's draft Aaron Brooks who was the main cause of problems for the Lakers. He drafted Landry when he was projected as going undrafted. He traded for Scola for absolute crap(V.S.) He gave a up a mere draft pick for Ron Artest who has all-star potential.

Where the **** would we be if Dawson was still the GM. There's no way some can turn around and add this much quality young depth in such a short amount of time without being in the lottery or sucking it up year after year.

All this within 2 years. And the offseason isn't done.

True, but don't bother with leebigez. He's just a whiney baby that wants to b****. He doesn't care about the enormous improvement from the season before to the last or the fact that the offseason just started and there's plenty of time for further moves. He wants a championship TODAY! (Even though that's impossible.) If you don't feel the same way you're a p***y whose mama still dresses you. And also you need a spanking.

Though I frequently agree with Leebigeez, I think he should take into account that the Rockets basically had Yao and Tracy and not even anything to make trades with before Morey took over.

As far as stars go you need to take into account acquiring Artest and even Scola for next to nothing when evaluating Morey. So far he is doing a good job. To do a great job he does have to acquire another star or two.

I can't believe the Rockets had a chance to get Amare and didn't close the deal.

It's a waste of time arguing with you and disproving all your misguided points, like the fact that even though we aren't awarded anything for taking the lakers to 7 games, it is PROGRESS. And progress, after years of first round exits, and years of not making the playoffs under your beloved past regime, is a good thing.

Arguing with you about Morey draft picks compared to others is even more pointless, as you are clearly delusional(I don't think so), or clearly biased(bingo). You obviously have ulterior motives. And your bitterness is preventing any sensible discussion based in reason.

It is just a shame that you will be root against our success in the future, consciously or not, merely because of petty grudges. Under the guidance of Morey, we have a bright future, and I am sure of future success. You deserve all your future disappointment, while your smear campaign is truly a running Clutchfan joke.

The only thing I learned in this thread is that leebigez is the only person on earth raised w/ any discipline while we were all raised in hippy communes. He's also the only person who's ever worked hard in life while we are all home-bound slackers.

Oh wait, I also learned he must start every post insulting another poster and/or mention how accomplished and wonderful he is. The self-righteousness is palpable. This is real, folks.

First of all, let me say, i hope you're alright from the ordeal overseas. Next let me say, i am never the one to sling the bs first, but i will stand up for my wording. If i disagree with someone, i never, ever call them names unlike what people do on here, but thats all good.

Batman, you seem like a reasonable person and a rockets fan thru and thru and if you read what i said instead of taking things out of context, I'm a very, very fair person in my criticizing about any rockets. The fact of the matter, this isnt the 92-97 rockets, This team doesnt have the luxury of baby steps because of age and injuries. I've didn't say Morey was sorry and needs to be replaced tommorrow, but what i can say and any rockets fan with any realization of time and space is the win now mode the team hopped in 3 yrs ago has yielded minimum results. Meanwhile, a used to be old, unatheltic team like the spurs just got a shot of red bull to their titl chances. No longer will wing players be able to out athlete their team. That accomplished that with 1 bold stroke. The rockets arent in the position the blazers, utah, or even orlando is in because of their teams best players. Do i think morey is done? No, because my close sources says the amare deal is about to get heated again. I always want the best for the rockets, but the hourglass is running out on a team that is close to a ring. The problem is, the other teams that have the same view are making bold improvements to pry that window open.

True dat and thats what makes good gm's great. I mean portland has enough talent that most teams in the league really, really want. We have heard about the cash cow yao is, but pritchard was the one buying 1st rd picks. I can tell you that dumars wanted no part of the first rd and the rox didn't even make a call. Now are can anyone tell me that the 15th pick wouldn't hav been a great place to be? I'm just saying that aggression is always rewarded in basketball. Whether its fouls called or in the front office. I like the artest pickup, but i can admit i thought it shouldve been done last season when the blocker was brooks. Evereyone knows that i really, really like brooks. Even if people view this run as successful, the rox are no closer to the title than they were this time last year or at the end of the season.

Thanks for the kind words about my accident. It's a drag but I'm going to be fine.

But you say you don't call names. I posted once in this thread and you spent the first paragraph in response calling me a sissy and blaming it on my upbringing when you obviously know nothing about me.

Makes it tough to have a conversation.

Morey's proven he's got what it takes to improve this team quickly and dramatically. He's done it already. And he's working on doing it again. I reject the idea that he has to produce 1-2 all-stars on a team with two max players to be good at his job. I further reject the idea that we need more all-stars on the team. I believe that's because I watched Rockets games last year; you believe it's because my parents weren't rough enough on me when I was growing up.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

GM's are judged on talent accumilation and titles. Its bette to say titles first though. Let me ask you something, would the spurs be still a factor if buford wouldn't have found parker and manu late? Would the Lakers have won the title if they hadn't moved evans and cook for ariza? Would the rox have won their title without dawson picking cassell late and trading for clyde? Gm's have to pull rabbits out the hat as they say. Now, I'm higher on brooks than alot of posters on this board. In the offseason, i said without a doubt the rox should trade Rafer and start Brooks. In the end, i proved to be right, but i think with his year off, adelman saw brooks as the guy. Now if brooks continue to develop or if morey continue to put heat in the amare deal, i'll be the first to applaud him just as i did when he got artest. You see what i see and you cant tell me you can see this team as a contender for the title without a major, major move. Even if yao is back healthy and if tracy makes this comback which i doubt, i still dont think they can beat Utah in 7 games. I'm not sure if they can beat Portland in 7 games next year. I know they cant beat Sa or La for sure.

I think the OP has a point. Morey has proven to be masterful as collecting hidden gems and solid role players at reasonable prices, but he hasn't yet had to prove that he can do the "superstar" deals to bring in the franchise players that teams need. Obviously, given our two stars, he hasn't needed to.

Given his track record so far, I trust he'll get the job done when it's time to trade McGrady or bring in another star player. But who knows, Morey's shortcoming might be that he's great at tinkering but not so great at hitting the grand slams, where you sometimes have to proactive enough to overpay.

IIRC one of his first moves as GM was to visit Rashard Lewis and try to get him to sign for just the MLE. Not saying he should've outbid the Magic, but that was nevertheless a head-scratcher for me.

Anyway, how the McGrady situation unfolds is going to tell me a lot about Morey as a GM.

The fact that you are so short sighted and impatient to cave in and give up Brooks in the Artest deal shows why you should leave the GMing to Morey, and just sit back and enjoy the ride with the rest of us moron fans.

Even though you bash Morey to no end for the "win now" Battier for Gay, you have no reservations for throwing away Brooks. The difference between you and Morey is he wants to win now, but not at the cost of mortgaging our future. Its all about asset management. A thing a guy from MIT would know about. And a 20 year scout obviously lacks.

To put it simply, its buy low sell high. We refused to throw in Brooks in the Artest trade because Morey believed Aaron's value could increase greatly in the near future, and would be selling low. He has been proven right. By keeping Brooks one more year, we have increased his value enough to possibly parlay him into Amare, or another legit allstar. At the same time STILL getting Artest. While you would have given Aaron up last year because of your impatience.

You say the Amare trade is stuck because of a minor detail. It may only be minor to you, similar with Brooks last year. If the hiccup is with someone like Lowry, that would be selling low again, and I would refuse a trade. This is just sound business management and another reason why I trust Morey.
