Hey guys just wanted to see if anyone here is planning to go to the Las Vegas Summer League this year and check out our rookies and overseas prospects in action. I'll be there along with fellow clutchfan RAID on the weekend of the 10-12th. Hoping a few others would come out and join in. For those who havent been to summer league before (my 3rd time going in vegas) its a blast and inexpensive entertainment. Tickets last year were 25 bucks for the entire DAY. You could go to any of the games and sit anywhere except courtside (courtside seats were 75) but the access to the players and coaches is unlike anywhere else. Last year I was in the urinal stall next to Coach Adelman tempted to ask him questions, possible if he would wear a monocle but I didn't. For those who want to go I found this deal online for rooms at the hilton which is just off strip you have to call in to reserve but it was the best deal I found. just mention the coupon code when reserving If there is anyone in the Southern California area that wants to come hit me up (email via my board profile), RAID and I are leaving friday morning from Los Angeles so if we have to rent a larger car to fit everyone thats fine to we'll just split the costs down the middle so its cheaper for everyone. If its just a handful we'll go in what we have. Hope to see everyone there!

I used to go when it was in California, but it was cheap as hell over there. I think it was $10 for the entire day. I would go, but I think most of the games are going to be televised, aren't they? Back then, nothing was televised. The best thing about these games is the people you run into in the stands sometimes. Like once Sam Mitchell and Kevin McHale sat in front of me. I think it was he or Kevin McHale that started ripping into a player and said something like "somebody's gonna overpay for that guy"... lol. I met Rudy in the stand one year and we shook hands. I saw Oliver Miller kissing up to Rudy (I think it was). I saw everybody and their mother shaking hands with Keith Jones (the dude's a rock star with players I think). Oh yes, and I saw Malick Badiane become one of the greatest summer league stories EVER! EVER I SAY!
Have you guys tried using something like bidding on Priceline? You may be able to get more than 2 or 3 days there if you want. When I stayed in Cali, they cracked up and asked me if I planned on being a permanent resident there because I think I stayed there 2 weeks. It was a $120-$130 hotel that I think I got for something like $30-$40/night via bidding. I've gotten $180-$190/night hotels for about $40 several times in the Dallas area. It's a great way to get cheap deals on hotels if you don't want a specific hotel.
I live in Vegas, so I'll be spending at least a couple days in the mix! I strongly encourage anyone who can, to check it out - talk about access! Last year I spoke with RA, Dorsey and others. The year before Morey actually came up to me in the stands, and thanked me for my vocal support of the team! Before that talked with JVG when the whole resigning Mike James thing was going down. Most all the players are very accessible... gotten autos from Brooks, Hayes, Morey, Carroll Dawson, Dorsey, JLIII, Baxter, etc.... to name a few. Plus guys like elgin Baylor, Danny Ainge, Chris Mullin, etc... Definitely a great time!
I'll have my dorsey jersey not sure if I should get a taylor jersey last time when I bought a #5 jersey (greene) he was traded 3 weeks later. maybe a Budinger jersey DoD- I wish I could stay longer but I have to be back on Monday for work we have clients in the office
You probably have to fill in a custom order for those. I think you can get them of the Rockets Shop online. Fill in the name and the number and you have a rookie jersey!
lmao you would've been a hero if you did. I stayed in Vegas for a few nights just last week. I stayed at the Imperial Palace right on the strip. The place is like a Motel 6, but for $38 a night (tax included) I wasn't going to complain. I don't know if that's a promotion or what, but they've been doing it for a few weeks now. $38 for a room! It was cheapskate paradise.
I live in Vegas too. This is a very cool deal. I got to talk to Carl Landry and got soem photos and his signature 2 years ago. And then last year I got to talk to Head and Alston too. If you can make it out here, it's well worth it. With this economy, all the hotels are giving away the rooms, especially mid-week.
I will go to the west coast of the US for the first time this summer.I will be at L.A. on July, 10th. And I really want to go to Vegas on this west coast trip.How long does the summer leagues last?Hopefully I can catch some of the games when I am there.
summer league is july 10-19th i believe the rockets play the 10th,11th,12th,14th,17th if you are in LA on the 10th its roughly a 4-5 hour drive to vegas from there.
