lol, trust me, none of them read this board...i was just very frustrated with a few of the guys after a loss.

We're going to try to correct a few things, namely getting our big guy to come out on the corners more, and on offense getting the wing players to come up higher to create some more penetration for the point guard. They play too deep.

I played D1 college ball, granted it was for an ivy team and I was a bench player, but I understood how to play even if my physical talents were limited.

just urban professionals - a team costs around a $1000 bucks a season, there are cheaper options for people who just wanna play for fun ya know.

The question really isn't how to coach them, because they are uncoachable. It's more of how to motivate them to want to play better.

I hear Corey Maggette is on the trading block. You should go make a thread about it.

Take discipline action. They don't want to play defense? Send them out the door. Or you can give them a speech along the lines of brotherhood, war, and humanity.

Just go 2-3. Do you have any quickness in the perimeter? Do you have size? 2-3 can lead to fast break baskets if you play it right. Getting a 5 to close out on a shooter is already hard to do, if he over commits then you're giving up a layup. With a 2-3 he can camp out in the lane (wich is naturally what a big man wants to do) try it.

Call a time out when the mistake is made during the game. Try and be explicit when discussing what corrections to make.

Try and have one practice and get the team to learn one play on offense. You just need one practice. Don't try and learn more. Just learn one play, but understand that if that play doesn't work, then you can go back to the free style you guys normally run.

Also in addition to one play, it might be ok to talk about a general philosophy, such as ball movement, 3 and 4 passes before anyone takes a shot. Move without the ball, set some screens/picks etc. Or work the ball in the middle first and then kick it out.

I take it since over dribbling seems to be a problem that you have 1 or 2 guys with good handles, but they don't pass, and when the other team collapses 4 guys on them, they turn the ball over? That's happened on teams that I've played with. I'm in a league now. Aside from me our team is extremely athletic and also very young. They often abandon any kind of set offense.

There isn't too much you can do. Just try and have fun, adjust as the game goes, pointing out in real time the changes that need to happen.

I could coach your team but even you wouldn't be able to comprehend the complexities of the DaDakota offense....

How many games long is the season?
I've played several places, Bellaire Rec center, various Ymca and lastly at Fonde.
I am currently looking for a new league, have a pretty competitive team.
