Maybe its just Morey hype getting to you, dude made Donte Greene look like an All-star after all. But yeah, I really do feel good about our picks, especially Taylor. I think he's really ready to give Von some competition at the 2 slot :D

Von competition at the 2 slot? Are you referring to the possibility they compete against each other in Summer league? Von has about as much chance as making the roster as Michael jackson has of doing another moonwalk.

Think about it. We have Barry and James White, Tmac and the possibility of resigning Artest. We just drafted Taylor and Chase and Lowry and Battier can also pull duty there as well. That's a total of 8 players there. Do we really need 9. If there was ever any last nail in the coffin it was most certainly the announce ment we have a trade, "The Houston Rockets purchase the rights to Chase Budinger". WafersMohawk must have hit the ceiling.

The sad thing is he might of kept I spot if he had just fact humility for a season. Instead he cost himself millions because he thought he was better than he was.

I'm hoping Taylor turns out being a poor man's Dwayne Wade. He appears to have the pure athletic ability. He's very competitive. He has the same size. He can score in traffic. From what I've read, he "just" needs to work on his handles and his defense. Of course, "just" is a big word here. Can someone his age develop better handles? Defensively, I think some work with Artest and Battier, this guy can become a lock down defender with hard work.

I just finished watching film of three of his games: UH, Memphis, and Morehead State. He looked pretty bad. I trust Morey more than myself, but just saying, I've gone over about 100 of his possessions on film and they were mostly turnovers and unconscious J.R. Smith like shot selection, but J.R. Smith on a bad day.

The good news is he's athletic and can dunk on fast breaks...fast enough to go end to end dribbling at the speed of PG's running. And he rebounds the way Steve Francis did in his prime.

So from what I've seen, he's a Steve Francis, J.R. Smith Hybrid...but pretty average handles. And no, he DOES NOT GET DOUBLE TEAMED.

This is because he does not ISO, does not post up, and does not Pick and Roll as the ball handler. In the 100 or so possessions I watched on film of him, it was rare to see any of that, and a positive result was even more rare.

The dude is mainly catch and shoot off screens and catch and shoot out of kick outs. Maybe a dribble or 2 here and there, but into a jumper. His jumper has good form and his shot has good arc. He gets good elevation...

But his basket attacking is mainly in transition, which he seemed decent at...

Now I'm going to spend the next few hours going over Budinger film. I think there's a lot more of that available.

The draft is over. The temperatures are boiling over 100, and the summer doldrums are upon us. What else can we do? :D

Eh...huh? So you actually think Morey will let Wafer go just because he had an argument with RA? You don't let a proven asset like Von Wafer go even if you spent a couple million dollars bringin fresh blood in. There's no guarantee Budinger and Taylor are NBA material, while Von has already proven he belongs here. The only time there will be nails on Von's coffin is if he leaves us voluntarily or somebody signs him for waay to much money.

I don't even get your bolded part. If we don't sign Wafer somebody else will. If his market value is high enough to warrant millions of dollars then he would get his million regardless if he left us, and if his market value is lower than that then he wouldn't get his millions even if he stayed with us, since DM would never pay significantly more than the market price.

Thanks for the interesting, but worrisome, post. I look forward to your take on Budinger.

Von is streaky, in both directions. He was easy to root for, since he was such an underdog--but then his ego bit him in the ass. I hope he will make a conscious effort to develop his humility and decision-making. Those are invaluable personal skills that will serve him well, now, and for the rest of his life. Be smart, Von. It's a team sport.

You don't get it. Every team watched the playoffs and every team saw him not once but twice throw little hissy fits and temper tantrums. And he did it in the middle of the Rockets second round playoff run. Not just a regular game and to top it off he had ever reason to play team ball. Wafer doesn't have a contract a year ago he wasn't even in the league. Adelman gave him 10 times more opportunities in the league then next closest coach. Adelman kicks him off the court and he is still steaming to the locker room and refuses to calm down so he has to be escorted to the bus. I know there are some stupid GM's in the league but what GM and coach wants that headache.

Yes he will still be in the league because he does one thing very well and that is score. But if he showed some more desire to play defense and be a team player and not a punk ass b**** he might have earned himself half the MLE and maybe a little more. He will be hard pressed to get any long term contract. And he won't come close to even half the MLE and I guarantee you it won't be with the Rockets. Mark my words Wafer is history as a Rocket and if I am wrong come back and call me on it.

Kim can you please e-mail me through the board and let me know how you found game footage for Taylor? I'd like to look at some myself if it's possible.

If you click on the links below this is why he is compared to Wade other than his game being similiar to Wade's but you can compare guys that are drafted to many players that have played in the league. Budinger will be a great NBA player but all around he won't be as good as this guy. This guy has a better potential to carry a team in the NBA simply because of his style of play.

he reminds me of Kirk Synder a bit too but Synder averaged 18 points a game coming out ou college and this guy is averaging 26 points a game. I know this guy is out of Central Florida but Synder came out of Nevada it's a difference but not a huge difference either you got game or you don't. In the NBA lets see if he becomes a rich man's Kirk Synder.

Kirk Snyder didn't take alot of jumpers. He would push his way into the lane with brute strength to get his shot.

Jermaine's strength is his jump shooting . His 3pt shot and mid-range jump shot are very good. He shot 41.4% on 5 attempts per game in his 2nd year. In his 3rd, he shot and 36.7% 3pt% on 7 shots a game! This is while garnering double and triple teams on a crappy team.

He's a strong rebounder for a guard also. He averaged 5.2 rebounds per game. He's also a decent blocker and steals man. He averaged almost a block and steal every game.

He doesn't have great ball handling and takes ill-advised shots.

He seems more like another version of Von Wafer or Ricky Davis.
