The guy is already one of the better PF that isn't an all-star in the league. He keeps getting better and better, it seems like every game. How high is the ceiling for this kid? He averaged 13 ppg, 9 Rpg, and had as many assists as he did turn overs. You guys think Luis can ever be a 20/10 guy? Or will he always play second fiddle and have lower stats than he could as long as Yao is around. Is there a way to maximize both his and Yao's potential?
After learning to absorb contact at the rim, something that plagued him his first year, I think he has reached his ceiling in terms of player development. His statistics can only really go up with increased minutes.
Minor improvements such as further refinement with his mid-range shot may occur. Not much else. 14/9 while maintaining his efficiency,is the best that I expect from him, which isn't bad by any means.
I don't know that he needs to get better, just more ascertive. If he does that his numbers will go up.
He can't get 20/10 here averaging 9-10 attempts a game. I dont think he's all star material, but he was swimming in double doubles post-ASG last season, and consistently bringing it in the playoffs. He will crack top 10 this year I hope
Dont get yourself confused. The guy is not a kid. Hes a man. 29 already. As others said, he'll be in the area of giving you 15 and 9 a night. Dont expect too much more while Yao is still around.
I remember a night where he began like 12/12, not only making tough layups but knocking down J´s too. It´s a good question though.
It is possible he will improve into his early thirties, like the greatest Rocket did--but I'm happy with what he gives us already. Love that motor. Runs the floor every possession.
If he was on a bad team or team with a good point guard he could get close to 20-10. He gets up the floor and no one pases to him.
He is not a kid.... Maybe minor improvements, but that wouldn't be because of Scola. It would be because of Rick and having more offense for him.
The problem is no one gives him the ball and he is too nice to demand it. Let's face it, last year Artest, Wafer and AB had me-itis and forgot we had Yao Ming, Luis Scola and Landry down low. That was my biggest beef with Adelman last year, he didn't emphasize his big men need touches, especially when our trio were the most efficient scorers in the whole team. Hopefully this year our perimeter guys have settled down and Scola can actually get more touches. If he gets them he can definitely crack 20-10 IMHO. He's not exactly Manu, but he's not bad either. I consider Scola to be the best non-star big man in the big right now.
On a team that Adelman takes pride in calling a "balanced team", and Yao still being the go to guy, I don't see him averaging 20/10. More like 15-17/10 but only because his touches are limited. If Adelman finds away to get him more touches, maybe. IMO he's still a all-star and if he was on a team such as the team Tracy was on in Orlando, he's put up bigger numbers. Scola is a guy you want to keep around, basically the guy is a winner. The difference between a winner and a loser, is that losers find it easy to lose, while winners can't sleep at night after "any" loss.
If he manages to repeat this season what he did last season I would be more than pleased. If he dunked it once in a while it would be nice, just for the excitement factor.
