So it looks like Curry is a deal breaker (at least that's what Kerr is posturing). The question is whether Golden State can turn back now that this thing has been announced and their fans/coaches/players are expecting Amare.

I have to give props to Steve Kerr on the way he's handled this Amare thing. I think he played the game beautifully, making it seem like he was doing a deal with us to drive up the price for GS, making it seem like a done deal to get the Warrior's fans hopes up, now putting the pressure back on GS with the latest leak.

I bet there's going to be a few more rumors about Amare if GS doesn't cave.

If Kerr had half of a brain he would have just kept Shawn Marion instead of trading him for O'Neal in the first place and ship Stoudemire out instead. Or just keep Marion, parlay him for Jermaine O'Neal and their team of JO/Amare/Nash would still be pretty decent.

Giving credit to Kerr for what the media has done is like giving a dog a pat on the head because he pissed on the carpet instead of the couch.

    lol'd.

But its about time something goes the Suns way. That franchise has fallen rather quickly, though I guess it was a long time coming. Sucks for Nash that he was the only professional on the team outside of D'Antoni.

I think this is a good thing for GS...They where about to shred there team!! Amare is good but not at the risk of all there young talent...Me thinks Morey is calling Kerr's bluff and it might have worked!

Do you think they would have beaten SA 2 years ago if Marion was there instead of Shaq? Come on, they were losing that regardless. Jermaine O'neal is a terrible player at this point, he's not even an average starter. The only real bad part about the Shaq trade is that the Suns lost a little bit more money with Shaq's contact this year, some of which they can make back by cutting Pavlovic and buying out Wallace.

I'll definitely give credit to Kerr for trying to get talent back in the Amare deal. This is not a salary dump like the other major trades, probably because they already did the salary dump with Shaq.

Kerr was stupid for trading for Shaq because that move wasn't a guarantee to beat the Spurs. In fact, that very trio of Nash/Amare/Marion were two suspensions away from beating the Spurs. Kerr liked to complain that D'Antoni's offense wasn't going to win championships but they were RIGHTTHERE before Amare and Diaw got suspended.

As for "trying to get talent back", well what else is he going to do? He traded away an All-Star power forward for Shaq and then shipped Shaq out for pretty much nothing. Of course he has to save some kind of face w/ the fans and ticket holders in Phoenix

"Look guys, the Shaq thing...my fault. But I'm diligently trying to get rid of our other All-Star for....get this...expiring contracts, Biedrins, and Stephen Curry! eh eh? You GOTTA like that!"

    Center: Andris Biedrins
Power Forward: Ben Wallace if he doesn't retire
    Small Forward: Grant Hill
    Shooting Guard: Jason Richardson
    Point Guard: Steve Nash

    6th man: take your pick

Yea, that team is going to compete in the West.

I think the pressure is on the Suns to get the deal done, they are the ones at risk to lose Amare for nothing. The warriors will still suck with or without Amare. From what I can gather, the original deal was for Biedrins/Bellineli/Wright and the number 7 pick for Amare. It was the warriors who pulled out of the deal when Curry, who they had rated the 2nd best player in the draft, dropped to them. So its on Kerr to decide if he wants to keep Amare and risk losing him for nothing when he opts out of his contract to seek his last big payday. Its safe to assume Amare wants another max contract, which is 5 years 95 million. Its probably also safe to assume theres no way in hell Sarver is going to pay that.

Nelly has already made it clear that Curry is going nowhere.

Looks like the deal isn't so close? GSW have drawn the line, now it's Kerr's turn to react.

I doubt that Nash/Amare/Marion trio would have beat the Spurs 3 years ago. The series was tied at 2 apiece with suspensions happening for game 5. You can't just assume that the Suns were going to win. You can just as easily say that the Suns were Duncan miracle 3 pointer away from beating the Suns 2 years ago when they had Shaq.

I personally do not understand why they are trading Amare at all. I'd keep Amare and trade Nash. It's weird to trade the young guy and keep the clearly declining player. My hunch is that Kerr is under direct orders from Robert Sarver to do everything possible to keep Nash, Sarver wants to sell tickets next season. Everything about the Suns can be traced back to Sarver, even the Shaq trade, don't forget that they actually saved money by doing the Shaq trade, if only for that season.

kerr is the worst gm in the league, i would never have blown up that team, marion, amare, and nash could have won the west easily had they had some calls go their way. but unfortunately, they traded for shaq and the team basically went from a fast-paced team to a half court team.

now they want to trade the best PF in the league away for some GW players who hadn't done ****.

at least with us, they know they are getting experienced players who produce. here's to getting amare

Good news on the Amare-to-GS talks possibly being dead. If true, that means our window is still open.

On a side note: I have the feeling Monta Ellis will be moved. GS's insistence on keeping Curry combined with the "something's gotta give here" dark cloud surrounding this potential Curry/Ellis backcourt has me believing Ellis will be the odd man out.

no way ellis is going anywhere. Thats the type of backcourt you'd expect from the warriors.

It be best, if he react for Randolph if Curry won't be dealt.

If PHX makes this trade along with the Wallace-Chandler swap, they'll be proud owners of an offensively challenged frontcourt of Chandler+Biedrins. No way, Nash signs an extension.

I think Phoenix is still torn atm between blowing the whole thing up and competing for one more year.

If they don't blow it up, they can still be a somewhat competitive team with no hope of a championship, but at least it'll put fans it the seats. And if that's the route their taking, they might as well keep Amare instead of doing the GSW or Houston trades. The rumour that Nash wanted Shaq out would be evidence that Phoenix isn't quite ready to blow the whole thing up yet.

If they want to blow up the team, then the Houston deal makes more cents esp. if GSW isn't sending them Curry.

Was Tmac involved in the Houston deal? What's the point of Suns getting back what's essentially an expiring contract if they're blowing things up and Amare is coming off the books anyways?
