Basically 610 has much more to offer locally than 1560, so Sporting News Radio goes to the weaker station because they offer more airtime for their sorry national shows. Maybe one of these months I'll give 1560 another try and see if it's any better.
huh? 610 has been the station with Rome (from LA) on for 4 hours during the day. all 1560's stuff is local. all of it. Sporting News has the best night-time programming...this just further solidifies 1560, in my view.
I remember when it was One-on-One sports before then, back in the mid-to-late '90s. Usually caught Arnie Spanier and then grumpy, surly Bob Kemp late at night.
Last time I tried to listen to 1560, they had nothing to offer me locally because I didn't like a single show of theirs. Not one person on that station is equal to Matt Jackson, Adam Clanton or even Adam Wexler. Any local station would do backflips to get Rome in that slot because he's so popular. He almost doesn't count. I think Sporting News Radio is a bunch of filler junk and it's a sign of strength if a local station won't give them enough air time.
I gotta be honest. The stations poor reception combined with John & Lance going off on the randomest tangents plus accepting way too many callers get through in the morning has had me back at 610 ever since Andre got out of there. Now if they could only replace Marc as well.
I agree. The reception is just horrible. Really, really horrible. When John and Lance stay on topic, I like to hear their sports takes. The problem is that it rarely happens. Throwing in a little outside conversation is cool but when it dominates the program you lose your target audience. I've gotten to where I like listening to 610 in the morning and I prefer 790 on the way home.
1560 comes in just fine on the internet here in Austin and they support this site. I am in their corner 100%. DD
The reception is better, but it's still not perfect. I've really grown to like 1560, but I still favor Matt Jackson and Adam Wexler. If they'd put those two back together and dump Rich, 610 would have a loyal drive home listener.
1560's local stuff is garbage. They have Raheel & Nuno and their Rockets coverage, but that's it. Everything else is nothing more than brainless drunken frat boy talk radio. I've attempted to listen to 1560 several times and I fled back to 610 every single time. Matt Jackson's pinkie by itself is better than all the "local stuff" 1560 has to offer.
Not really big news, but I do wonder what late night filler 610 is going to pick up. Does anyone use Fox locally?
