Shooters targeted Rockets use second-round picks to select scorers Taylor, Budinger By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle June 26, 2009, 12:28AM . . . . They went hard after several early first-round picks, and an NBA executive with knowledge of their trade talks said late Thursday that the Rockets are among several teams still trying to acquire Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio, one of several point guards selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Rubio was the fifth player taken in the draft, one spot before the Timberwolves took Syracuse point guard Jonny Flynn. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6498343.html
Whoa i didnt expect this. But i would love to have Ricky on this team. What would we give Minnesota though?
I am happy to hear this. There is no way Minnesota would keep 2 point guards. I think DM is very high on this kid. He has a chance to be one of elite PG in the nba. I hope we can get him at the right price though.
He's got a little bit of Maravich and Magic in him and if he even comes close to his potential, the PG spot is set for 12-14 years.
Rubio wants to play in a big market, and is also looking for warm weather. His father has already said he may play a year or two overseas aka trade him or he's out. Minny needs help now and not later. They got their man in FLynn, so I'd say we have as good a chance as any team.
what could we possibly offer? they dont need anymore PF's or PG's, and all we have is landry and brooks.
most people just get excited whenever they see minute long compilations on youtube of any player. Rubio just happens to be the popular one on youtube at the moment.
NY is int he hunt as well i believe, there's talk about rubio returning to spain instead of playing with Minny....i think this was Minny's plan all along, they just wanted rubio as trade bait because they knew some teams would give a kidney to get him..
Would we really be a good match with Rubio? I just don't see him getting too much playing time to develop his game as much as it needs to. He def. is not worth sending T-mac. Maybe Morey is trying to acquire Amare for T-mac and Rubio for Aaron, Landry, 09 Picks + Future picks + Cash? PG: Lowry/Rubio SG: Artest/ Barry/ Wafer? SF: Battier/ White PF: Amare/ Scola C: Yao/ Dorsey Looks niiiiice
Minny doesn't really need him now though...not that i think that's a good reason to let him go back to spain rather than trading him, but they are in a rebuilding mode and far from contending in any way, so it's not exactly win-now mode
