Just speculation of course but after drafting Taylor and Budinger, I think Morey will let Wafer walk. Looking at Taylor's scouting report, he sounds a lot like Wafer; good scorer, attacks the rim, a little wild sometimes, questionable defensive intensity. And Morey just spent 2.5 mill to acquire his rights, so he must really like Taylor.

Morey would need to break into the MLE to sign Wafer (maybe he wants to save it for someone else) and with Von's tiff with Adelman in the playoffs the writing is kind of on the wall.

Seems like Taylor and Budinger will replace Wafer and Barry (who will get cut, traded or bought out).

Agreed that Wafer's days as a Rocket may be numbered. I just hope if it comes to that we explore S&T options first so we don't lose him for nothing.

Why would another team give the Rockets 5 cents for Wafer?

Yeah, you just have to figure Wafer is toast after looking at who we drafted. i'm not surprised. Coach A wasn't going to put up with the melodrama. Von Wafer also has a disc problem with his back. Heck, I'm liking the 3 2nd round picks we got. Morey does it again! Not only that, but we still have McGrady's contract to bargin with.

S&T him, I think Morey is a kind of person that won't let someone just walk away for nothing.

I am sure that wafer will not be rockets next year after adelman send wafer to locker room in playoff...
Now, i wish they can use cook or barry last year contract to get something and resign artest in reasonable salary...

Not really a possibility. You can't use the MLE in a sign and trade deal (same situation came up last year with landry) and the Rox don't have the money/exceptions (no bird rights) to sign Wafer any other way.

We don't have Von's bird right . With Taylor at hand I think now we are in better position to sign Von for cheap.

But I still think Morey prefer Von. I remember he mention a couple of times that he expected rookies contribute after the first year.

2.5 million is a lot to pay for a draft pick that you end up cutting. Heck that might be about what Wafer could get on the open market this summer (about half the mle).
