The Magic seem unconfident that they'll be able to resign Hedo, but this move absolutely gives them a strong boost. This year it's crazy... With the Cavs, Magic and Spurs all significantly getting stronger... Morey has been extremely active, but hasn't been able to find a trade partner yet... Let's see what magic he pulls in 5 hours.
What makes you think we didn't? It has been reported that NJ had no interest in Mcgrady's contract. So that leaves our role players to trade. Morey may not have wanted to part with some that NJ wanted and NJ probably didn't think that the ones made available were all that valuable (and certainly not the future All-Stars that so many ClutchFans posters perceive them to be). I know that we think Morey is a good GM, but just because you see these trades go down, don't think he hasn't aready spoken with those teams.
Personally I think the Magic needs a new coach, not new players. Nelson didn't help lead his team to the finals, Rafer did. I wish Rafer the best of luck, and I guess he already has it, he doesn't have to listen to Van Gundy scream anymore.
After seeing the Cavs obtaining a major piece, The Magic had to do something and this would be a great addition. VC's perimeter game can complement Howard's inside game. Imagine a line up of Nelson, VC, Lewis, Howard, Hedo. Wow.
I think that is basically 99% now. Orlando is basically paying luxury tax if they re-sign anyone. I think this trade is basically a net loss for the Magic. They lose Lee, one of the few on the Magic that can actually create his own shot. And now they likely won't be able to re-sign Hedo (their best player, believe it or not) or Gortat. Where's their depth? Who besides Howard is going to play in the post?
No way they traded alston/lee/hedo/Gortat for carter. I think they will pay luxury tax and keep both Hedo and Gortat. Sometimes you have to be willing to pay luxury tax to assemble a champion team. Rockets need to take a note.
Who knows? Magics' owner has been saying in the last few days they will pay LT. Holt from the Spurs is looking like he's forking out LT and he doesn't pay LT.
geezz! magic got vc for just that! we almost gave newjersey tmac, shane, landry, and brooks just for him! and comeon, rafer and others suck!
Whoooohoooo! I'm gonna get Nets season tickets now that we have the player that led the Magic to the NBA Finals: Rafer Airballston! When do they go on sale??
All the more He should not. His team just got better and I believe team management is willing to pay him. He stays.
Wow, how are you going to guard a team with 4 all stars, and arguably 5, as Jameer Nelson is really really good? I say Orlando for Championship next year - early prediction. From the West, it could be LA or San Antonio. If we don't make any more, I'll be happy if we get to the second round again. Aaarrgghhh!! The strong keeps getting stronger.
hedo is greedy and just wants money..he thinks the nba will be in a lockout soon so he trying to get as much as he can if he leaves orlando he is not concerned with getting a championship
Great move by the Magic. It's amazing that they'll be able to place aside a top five NBA player (Howard) and STILL have two of the most clutch players in the league at their disposal (Lewis, VC).
So since everyone says we need a 2 guard... after some of this draft who do you think could be a new Rockets guard? Monta Ellis (Warriors drafted Curry) Ramon Sessions (Bucks took Jennings) Kevin Martin/Beno Udrih (Kings took Evans, he's a big guard, could be PG or SG) Chauncey Billups (Nuggets traded for Lawson) Andre Miller (76ers took Jrue Holiday) Mike Bibby (Hawks took Jeff Teague) Just ideas... any feedback on possible PG/SG in a rockets uni this year? Any others you think via trade/free agency would be a good fit? Bleeding RED since 1980
Miller or Sessions would be great. Both players can score, set up their team mates effectively and have height.
