Wow. Though things might not have ended too well, hard to deny he made some amazing music and was a part of growing up for a lot of people. Pretty stunning news.

Wow, I can't believe it :( . Celebrities passing away generally doesn't affect me but this definitely has. Arguably the greatest pop star ever (and one of my all time favorites, especially when I was growing up). Rest in peace.

I don't think its any different from any other breaking news story. People are going to talk about current events. Of course you won't hear people talk about John Smith from Paris, Texas that passed away because not everyone knows him. Many people know MJ through his music. Music is very powerful.

This is truly a sad sad day.
The rain and thunder outside is the perfect reflection of how I am feeling

He invented the modern video. His Music. His Videos. He made everyone in the industry have to step up their game.

He is a major influence and a cultural Icon.

This is by far the most any celebrity's death has ever touched me.
[I was affect by Tupac's death as well.]

It really sucks, but I am relieved the sad current chapter of his life is going to close. Thriller, IMO, is right there with the greatest pop albums ever done. Hopefully he's remember for the positives he gave.

Weren't the deaths of McMahon and Fawcett kind of expected though? Both of them had terminal cancer, and McMahon was already quite old. I thought the 3's saying applied to unexpected deaths like MJ today.
