he handled the ball and made all the clutch shots. D Howard was easily taken out in the Lakers series. They exploit his weak half court offense. As Barkley said about Howard "it's not like he's a Hakeem Olajuwon, if don't double him, he'll drop 40 points on you"
this sucks ass. league is just getting tougher and we are still without anything new added to the team.
Exactly.....I was debating with my buddies about this and they refuse to believe Hedo was the key on the offensive end. Look @ the 4th quarter. Hedo was controlling the offense, either Rafer or Nelson just dribbled the ball up and dumped right to him. But they wanted to jump on DH bandwagon, saying he was going to average 30 points a game in the Lakers series. Bah
cuz im pretty sure Carter's contract is too much money... hedo is going to want at least 10 million to resign
don't get me wrong, I'm sure any team would like to get a healthy center like D howard. it just proves how weak the center position is today vs the other eras. When centers had complete games like Dream, Kareem, and even Shaq. Shaq couldn't hit free throws, but when he was in the paint it was over.
i think Lee will be a very solid player (possibly with all star potential) the playoffs he kinda struggled cuz he wasn't fully recovered from that hit he took from howard that took him out for a few weeks
you are trading an unknown for a known. What is Lee's ceiling? Will he be as good as Carter? I don't know, but I'm not betting on it. Still you have to admit, even though they are dumping salary (NJ), the Magic got a steal. they didn't trade any major players on their team.
he might be not as good as carter...but Carter is on the downhill now and im not too sure but i heard carter is making 16 mil this year..which means they won't have enough $ to resign hedo...thats going to hurt
Ok so they got T Macs cousin…. He is averaging good numbers but they still need to find a way to get Howard the ball; they are still playing with one ball right?
understood, I wasn't implying DH isn't good. Just agreeing how important Hedo was. Now they got VC, while we haven't made a good move yet
pretty nice trade, they managed to convert Brian Cook + 1st rounder + scrubs into Vince Carter basically
Interesting trade. Assume the Magic are healthy, who's going to have the ball at the end of game. Hedo, Nelson or Carter? May not be a good trade for the Magic. Too many players want the ball. Personally, I'll still give the ball to Vince at the end of game.
Courtney Lee: I think it'd be optimistic to hope for 15ppg/35 mpg from him next season, and that's on the Nets. I don't think twice about dealing him for Vince Carter. Orlando is rightly shifting into a win now mode. Boston's old and apparently has internal issues (Rondo). They thumped Cleveland, and I'm not convinced half-dead Shaq is a good fit. Rafer was a rental, and moving him side steps any potential issues with him not accepting a small role behind Nelson. Battie won't be missed. The only downside for them is (a) whether Vince buys into the team and acknowledges to Dwight and Jameer as the alpha dogs. Kidd was (supposedly) frustrated by him (effort, focus) to no end in NJ. (b) whether this means Hedo's out (I say likely - no way does Orlando pay him above $8M per at this point). Hedo was the only facilitator on offense for them, and I'm not sure even Jameer Nelson can set up everyone as well as Turk did. God knows VC doesn't make guys around him better. Man, it's been crazy so far today.
crazy how we are here begging to get a trade like this in our favor, yet Magic fans in the magic forum are crying about losing a young Lee for VC...
