I don't see this trade happening because of one very simple reason: Amare is a one year rental. The Warriors would be giving up a bright future for a playoff run. Andris Biedrins and the #7 pick for one playoff run?
and it makes no sense for the Suns b/c you still take back a hefty contract in Biedrins. Not consistent with their salary dump plans.
The only calls Steve Kerr should be making right now are to TNT to see if he can get his old job back.
if this is true, i just do not see how nash will want to play for the suns? nash/jrich for tmac/cooks/barry/brooks
makes no sense. biedrins doesn't have a pretty contract and the talent at the 7th pick is a crapshot. I agree that this is leverage against the rockets, trying to get us to throw in more or pull the trigger.
i didn't think that amare trade was a salary dump. i think they are just moving him because he doesn't want to be in phoenix, they don't want to reup his contract, and they want someone who plays better pick and roll defense. i'm not sure about biedrins pick and roll defense, but i think getting a good young athletic center who can start in the west, and getting a young player to develop at #7 is worth it for amare, who they don't want on their team anymore.
Being relevant to the draft lottery for the next decade! It's a great time out(TM) (of the playoffs.)
The Suns will trade Amare Stoudemire to the Warriors for No. 7 overall draft pick Stephen Curry, among other players, the Arizona Republic reports on its website. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2009/06/25/20090625spt-sunsonline.html
That article was written around 6pm Pacific time... I'm fairly certain that Chad Ford has said the trade was dead since then.
Oh no worries, there's still plenty of confusion as to whether this deal is still on or not... a lot of conflicting reports. You very well could be right.
I agree about all the confusion. I was convinced it wasn't happening, but I just posted this in the GARM: I think Hollinger picked up Ford's quote and assumed it was extremely recent (near the end of tonight's draft) when in fact that quote was yesterday, well before the draft, even before the Shaq trade. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.
