To you and the other guy that doesn't know what that is:

When throwing up that sign it usually means you're throwing up the H, for Houston. Damn Oldheads! :D

That must be a pic that he had stashed that could be hinting to him headed here. I really hope it's for real now.

I never use roll eyes, but you guys are tempting me.

If you really think Amare has more upside in defense than Landry, go for it. They avg the same block per minute, so I guess they are equivalent, yeah?

We can agree to disagree. Amare and Barbosa would hurt us defensively versus the more youthful and effort-inclined Brooks and Landry.

I guess Ronnie James Dio is a big fan of Houston then, too?

the team amare has played for NEVER emphasized defense. he has the tools to do so if put in the right system. under JVG, even tracy played great defense when called upon.

if you had landry on the suns to start his NBA career, he probably wouldn't have defense instilled in him either.

our defense is about TEAM DEFENSE. everyone who has been brought here since JVG took over has taken on that defensive mentality, until tracy last year. so i'm not worried about amare or barbosa not putting in the defensive effort.

we need a ton of help offensively. yao is gonna be out most likely sometime next year as usual, and ron artest is beyond atrocious offensively. we need guys who can finish and put the ball in the basket. those 2 guys are.

i'm just hesitant about giving brooks away, but if it nets amare, i'm all for it.

Please don't make roll eyes, but if you have an argument, make it.

If you really think Landry is better in defense than Landry, go for it. They avg the same block per minute, so isn't that the definition of "equivalent"? Yeah?

We can agree to disagree. Amare and Barbosa would help us defensively versus the more inexperienced and physically-limited Brooks and Landry.

Weird, I've lived in Houston all of my life and never seen anyone do that to represent Houston. But it's mentioned in wikipedia so it's got to be true:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corna

"Many Houstonians in Texas use the symbol to represent "The H" as in H-Town, because of the hands being in the shape of an H"

Well i heard there are a lot of calls from GMs asking for Tmac. So i am wondering what are the offers?? I am sure there are better ones than just the Amare Barbosa one.

Um, maybe for certain groups of people who want to use it that way, but that symbol means all sorts of things. Bret Hart used to hold that up when he'd win a match and he certainly couldn't care less about Houston.

Which is precisely why I don't like the trade, because we're already been down that road!

I got a question, since I'm not up to date on our salary situation. If we did that trade, T-Mac, Landry, and Brooks for Amare and Barbosa, would we still have the money left to re-sign Ron Artest and possibly Wafer?

Sigh I dont know how something like this got leaked but this sucks. Morey go back to being tight lipped and surprise us with awesome trades.

    This anticipation hurts my stomach.

    No.

Defensively it is a wash. And on a contender in position to win a championship, I would expect we would get max effort defensively from Amare, so he will be a huge intimidation factor. Although his footwork defensively and positioning is as poor as Landry's, he is taller and more intimidating, especially coming from weak side for defensive presence.

And Brooks is a nonfactor defensively. There is no way that Barbosa is is a downgrade from him. Barbosa is taller and much longer.

Defensively it would be a wash. Offensively it would upgrade us. Barbosa is definitely a Morey player. The problem with trading Brooks is he is small enough to effectively be the point guard, even though he lacks the court vision and passing ability. Barbosa cannot really play the point. He is an off guard. So, if we move Brooks in this deal, we are really shy at the point.

Ideally, what Morey is trying to do is to find one guy that is the playmaker, that can break down the defense off the dribble, run the PnR, penetrate, and can FIND GUYS FOR SHOTS. And he wants to surround that guy with Yao and about 4-5 other guys that are athletic, can run, finish, and shoot. What Morey and Adelman want is the Nash/CP3/Kidd/Rubio type point guard that can control the tempo, run the break, run PnR, or penetrate to the rim, and has the floor vision to get all the rest of the guys the bball in position to score it. When you remove McGrady and Brooks together, and you bring in tremendous shooters/finishers like Amare/JRich/Barbosa, you are weakening our playmaking ability. We are lacking in that area. Now, MAYBE Lowry could be the guy that stirs everything. I like him a lot. He sure has the ability to penetrate. But as long as he has trouble shooting the J effectively, everybody is going to sag into the paint, jam up Yao and drag out to the shooters, and allow the ball to remain in Lowry's hands. Adelman wants 4 guys around Yao that can shoot efficiently. I don't know if Lowry can do this. We would still need to acquire a point if we trade McGrady and Brooks to PHX for Amare and either JRich or Barbosa.

Maybe. I would probably take Barbosa on defense over Brooks -- his length allows him to defend up against some 2s.

I thought Landry made huge strides defensively this year, but still struggled in any number of situations against bigger 4s.

Amare may be a slight downgrade defensively from Landry, but I don't think some people recognize just how good Amare is offensively. 20+ ppg 5 of the last 6 years (with the exception being the year he missed all but 3 games due to injury). 2 full seasons better than 25 ppg.

And he's only 26. He's less than a year older than Landry, and just over 2 years older than Brooks.

I guess the dream trade of getting Chris Paul, Chandler and filler has been replaced by this one. :D
