so i guess we'll blame karl malone and kareem or other guys who played with great PGs.

the fact that you brought up stephon is ridiculous. guess he couldn't make eddy curry better

I wouldn't trade BOTH Landry and Brooks in this deal, I think we would be giving up too much.....

I have mixed feelings about this...
But, if it's true I trust Morey...

Not sure if contracts etc line up, but how about:

    Wafer/Landry/TMac
    for
    Amare

IMO, Wafer is garbage and getting Barbosa (who isn't a pg) in exchange for Brooks wouldn't do a whole lot but clog up sg/wf spots. My 2 cents.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey told the Houston Chronicle that teams have been "very aggressive" in their pursuit of Tracy McGrady, and unlike last summer, Morey is listening intently. One such scenario floated by the New York Post, has McGrady, Aaron Brooks, and Carl Landry going to Phoenix for Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa.

According to CBSSports.com, it is a dubious scenario considering the Suns' long-held reluctance to trade Barbosa.

I don't know which was more funny.
The guy who said we can get Yao for Griffin or the guy who thought he meant Eddie.

ZERO CHANCE Rockets trade Ming for #1 pick. AND I MEAN ZERO.

First off LA would have to unload just to afford Ming in cap. Baron, Randolph, Camby, Kamman make too much to afford another high cap guy.

LA owner wants to cut salary because he is cheap as hell, not bring in more.

The currently rumored trade hurts our defense way too much. Praying for smoke. Releasing the "Yao's injury is not healing" is more a part of the strategy of making everyone think we are looking for a big-name post player.

Hope this is some new devious play by Morey.

...everything you just said in your post is pretty much implicitly understood by those suggesting the scenario.

Can't trade a player who is not under contract with us. Pheonix would have to work out a sign and trade, and I'm sure they are in no way looking to add salary.

Brooks is hard to let go of in any deal, but while he creates problems I think he will always be streaky and have plenty of limitations. Amare and Barbosa/J-Rich is worth it. You have to give something to get something.

If this trade goes down like this maybe we could trade Barbosa for a lottery point...

No to Amare under any circumstances. Too many concerns over his health and attitude.

    How?

Lowry takes over for Brooks = improved defense.

Barbosa takes over for Wafer = improved defense.

Amare takes over for Scola = improved defense.

Scola takes over for Landry = wash.

    ?????

I love the possible trade. On paper that is. From a talent/statistical stand point you can't deny we'd be coming out ahead in this trade. However, I'd have serious concerns when it comes to chemistry, character issues, not enough basketballs to go around etc. Would Amare be able to co-exist with Yao? Not only does Amare want to be ALPHA-DOG on any team but it's going to be that much worse when he's playing alongside Yao who I always felt Amare had a personal vendetta against because Yao was drafted before him.

This is and always will be Yao's team as long as he dawns a Rockets uniform whether you like it or not. I just can't see Amare playing 2nd fiddle to anybody. If he had issues playing alongside Shaq who's the most unselfish player in this stage of his career how the hell is Amare going to feel about playing next to Yao?

I always felt the best place for Amare is a place where he can be the #1 option with an unselfish PG that's willing to spoon feed him so he can get his "STAT"s. Amare is not a #1 option and he never will be. He may put up numbers like a #1 option (so he thinks he's a number 1 option and the casual fan may think he is) but he's not leading ANY team anywhere fast being the main option. To TOP it all off Amare thinks he's God's gift to basketball. Being cocky and confident is good to an extent but Amare comes off as really pompous to me. Especially with his most recent comments in regards to Chris Bosh. Speaking of Bosh... he'd be a great fit next to Yao. But that's another story.

If Amare is cool with being a team player, cared about winning more than just the numbers, was okay with being option 2 and sometimes even 3 on some nights, willing to play team defense and help Yao instead of out-doing him by being greedy then I am down with this trade. I really feel like I'm asking for the world though.

I think the odds are about 50/50 (at best) that any given lottery pick will become as good as Barbosa. Why not keep the sure thing?
