    Couple of things:
    1. The Suns are not giving up the #14 pick. They are trying to rebuild with some youth and create FA space for off season moves next season.Stop saying throw in the pick cause they will not.
    2. They will not trade Nash again. The city loves him and he would be about thing to sell tickets in a struggling economy and a team going nowhere. Stop saying put Nash in the deal because they will not. You think RA wants Nash as his PG anyway, HELL NO. Nash is one of the weakest defensive PG's in the league. He cherry picks the passing lanes is all he can do.

Landry has peaked or is peaking now and I just don't see how Brooks is going to improve on this team other than adding more lesson learned experiences.
I like both guys but lets face it, they have already peaked.
If you can get All-Star value for either or both of these guys, TAKE IT.

actually it would be even worse if the trade happened while he was on 610... boy that would be awkward....

    Bad Deal

By this deal, you pushed a Legit PF (Scola) to bench, while still having a not so legit starting PG. And most of all, you just inserted 2 not-so-well team defender into a good defensive team. We need to realize that Rockets is a good team only because they are good defense. Rockets may lack some offense, but you don't improve offense by break up the defense.

And this deal is not making sense for Suns. They just trade away Shaq, which suppose open up space for Amare, which also mean they are in a rebuilding mode. Trading away a young core player doesn't make any sense.

If they go in tank mode I don't think Nash will want to be there. Not saying we can nab him, but he clearly wants to win at this point of his career.

Keep in mind, there is a trade embargo. Teams will not be able to comment on player transactions until July. It's a dumb NBA rule, but that's why Carol Dawson had to sit around and answer 20 minutes of bad Rudy Gay questions 3 years ago. So even if something happens today, nothing "officially" is happening today unless it is a cash for draft pick transaction.

Well, Amare is going to leave the Suns next year anyways. Why not get Brooks and Landry while at it if you're rebuilding?

Initially I was very negative about getting Amare but PF-C combinations of Amare-Yao, Scola-Amare, and Scola-Yao are definately intriguing.

    anyone said this yet?

    brooks + landry for amare

    cassell + horry for barkley

    ?

everyone in the 1st deal is a little worse than the 2nd, but similar in enough ways to mention

Matt: Your breaking of the Eddie Griffin trade on 610 is still one of my fondest Rockets draft memories.

"Jeremy, there's a trade just announced....whoa...this is huge."

Keep in mind that just two years ago Amare was an untouchable and considered by many to be a top 5 player in the NBA. He did put up like 25 ppg at one point in time. He's only 26.

Let's face it...the only thing that we are concerned about is his injury and whether or not he fits next to Yao/Scola. His value and talent is there.

    Get it done.

Your guess is as good as mine. I would just tune in this evening from 6-? to our award winning (free plug) NBA draft coverage. Wex, Rob Costa and I will take you into the evening on SR 610 from the Rockets draft party at House of Blues.

not really i think the barkley deal was worse

cassell and horry are much better than brooks and landry thats for sure.

barkley is better than amare but we are talking about getting a barkley that was 33 at the time and you are talking about getting an Amare that is turning 27 in the fall. in that respect I think that in the first trade we are getting more talent back for less in return than in the barkley deal

A fair comparison but you are leaving out two things.
    1. Barbosa would be in the deal as well. That is huge as he is no throw guy but a starter.
    2. Amare has WAY more in the tank than Barkley did.

Someday when I am out of the business (who knows how soon that will be?) I will tell the Eddie Griffin draft night story. It is a doozy and should have been a sign that maybe that trade was not going to be the best idea for Houston. Of course much like the "Rudy Gay" revisionist history (the Rockets were going to take Sefolosha), the Rockets were not going to take Richard Jefferson (They were after Troy Murphy).
