If you've read my posts earlier, you'll see i've been a Rico fanboy for a while. The most underrated and underappreciated player in the US team. I hope he gives Jermaine a good fight for the starting Dmid role.

Man, If I were with Landon's wife, I'd have issues leaving her in Hollywood to go play in Germany or elsewhere in Europe 90% of the year. :D

I bet he's gone after this season though.

I predict this is the event that finally makes Americans go soccer mad.

I'm sitting here 6 hours later still beaming from this. One comment I saw earlier made it all the more sweet...

This is the first final of a major tournament for the US Mens National Soccer Team.

I know it isn't the World Cup, but it's about as close as you get for teams outside of Europe or S. America. If they somehow manage to win the tournament...I don't think you'd erase the smile from my face for weeks.

My true hope is, though, that they take this lesson back to CONCACAF and show the region once and for all who the best team is. Take it to Estadio Azteca. If they do, they're going to kick the s*** out of mexico...which might be almost as sweet as what happened today.

WOW, I didn't expect the US to take out Spain, its the first time they have lost in about 30 something games, quite amazing. I would have bet my life savings on Spain, to be honest I think it was a fluke, but I didn't see the game so I don't know the full story.

Brazil has gradually gotten better as the tourament has progressed, if I were a betting man, I would place all my money on Brazil....but as today's result shows, anything can happen.

You guys know why we really won this game?

It's because we were supposed to get elimanated and we didn't.

You know how like you're suppose to foul when you're up three, and you have the worse shooter with the ball hitting the game tying three? You go to overtime, and win it.

    It's just like that.

^ Awww, leroy420... why Mexico? We're not the top team right now. It's Costa Rica! C'mon! Go for the TRIFECTA! Beat Costa Rica and Honduras at THEIR stadium! Why not? :p Oh, wait... you DIDN'T beat Costa Rica at Saprissa... you can still do it in Washington, DC! ;)

Just hope the victory at least draw some attentions in the States.

This USA crew deserves the win. OTOH, if you watched world soccer long enough, you'd know that Spain has always been a choker in major tournaments. They always played terrific at the beginning of a tournament then choked at the end. They just prove that their recent European Cup was a fluke.

    Spanish played glamourous soccer though.

Check out the British commentary. The guys at ESPN are so dull, while these guys actually show some enthusiasm.

Congrats to USA for winning, I know for sure that Spain thought they're gonna easily win this one.

Its the underdog that won at the end...

Highly disagree with you. Yeah most folks know Spain flattered to deceive in a number of past tournaments but this is not the same Spain.
I'm sure the Spanish wanted to win and increase their winning record but make no mistake, the main things are (1) World Cup (2) European Championship. No team is perfect all the time and Spain just had one of those days where they couldn't score even if they were in a brothel.
They are still a mentally stronger team than they were in 02, 98, etc.
Spain will be back next year. Good win by team USA nonetheless.

I can watch that over and over. I watched the replay last night on ESPN2 and enjoyed it like it was live.

So much for seeing Torres, he didn't make the Gold Cup roster.

Probably Pachuca not wanting him to go to another tourney after Bradley sr decided not to use him in the confed cup. I feel bad for the lad.

Great stuff for Stuart getting called up. A number of surprises on the roster though.
Jay Heaps, Sam Cronin, Logan Pause?

I'm a complete soccer n00b. Where is Ronaldinho and Adriano on Brazil? I though they were like the best of Brazil.

I wish they would have left Ching home, though. He's just getting back from the hamstring and I'd rather the Dynamo have him instead of playing with a 2nd rate Nat'l team.

Nice to see Jimmy Conrad back. Probably getting a bit long in the tooth to contribute long term, but I've always liked the way he played.
