Trading for Amare Stoudemire is rebuilding?

    Weird.

Not to pick nits, but if all you consider is talent, then tmac alone > amare.

i agree with a lot of what you said though. there certainly is the "primadonna" factor to worry about with amare'. but then again, if he wasnt that way, would he even be available?

just sayin, yknow? every player will have his warts.

i'm still undecided on this trade. I'd rather get an all-star 2 than an all-star 4.

If the Rockets could do a TMAC + Landry for Amare you do that in a heart beat. I just don't see that happening though. I would suspect that the Sun's main interest would be Brooks. I guess time will tell what will happen if anything.

This is nitpicking, but Scola grabbed 8.8 rpg in 30.3 minutes this year. He's very solid on the glass compared to Amare.

Amare or Kevin Martin? Not a bad idea. ;)

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4564166&postcount=35

But agreed totally on targeting either of those guys. My #1 priority if I was running this team would be to get some Yao insurance. Amare more than satisfies that requirement. Martin doesn't add that second consistent post scorer that we need but the idea of adding a perimeter player like him into the mix is too tempting to pass up. I can't think of a better complimentary star and motion offense type player than Martin. Compound that with Adelman/Artest's history with Martin, I think Martin's addition would solidify Artest's return. There's really no losing out in a deal like that.

The deal I suggested was McGrady/Brooks for Martin/Udrih/Thomas. Your idea is decent too and would allow us to retain Brooks. I'm not sure which deal I like better since you have Brooks' promising future vs. Battier's fingerprints on this team that we would be losing. I'm not sure which element is more costly from our standpoint if we had to lose one of them.

No questions asked, I agree. But his attitude does give me pause!

82games.com has close and late stats.

Martin shot 36% in close and late situations, averaging 26 points and 0.8 assists and 4.6 turnovers /48 minutes (assisted 33% of the time).

Stoudemire shot 49% in close and late situations, averaging 22 points and 4.3 assists and 0.5 turnovers / 48 minutes (assisted 56%)

Yes, those assist/turnover numbers are correct.

In 07/08, Stoudemire was unreal scoring wise in close and late.
    (Numbers per 48 minutes)
    Stoudemire: 39.8 ppg, 50% FG%, 1 assist, and 2.4 turnovers (assisted 75%)
    Martin: 34.4 ppg, 50% FG%, 2.3 ast, 3.1 turnovers (assisted 60%)

I would say Amare is just as potent, if not more so, than Martin.

Nike, if the rockets aquire Amare I would have to think he's the rockets official go to guy at the end of the game. His offense is just incredible. No more praying to god oppossing defenses aren't fronting Yao on the block or pulling the chair from him on post ups at the end of games.

In an up-tempo offense, where there are more possessions to get rebounds, Amare couldn't ever crack over 10 rebounds per game, even though the best rebounder on the team was a wing player, Shawn Marion.

For a POWER forward, that is pretty weak/pathetic. I could understand if he had good rebounders around him, but if your the only big guy on your team, you should be getting atleast 10 rpg.

Look at DH12, he has a weak rebounding team aruond him, but he still goes and gets 14 rpg.

Yao is on one of the better rebounding teams from the SG, SF, and PF positions, yet he still manages to average 10 rpg.

Like I said before, we need a playmaker. Amare wouldn't have gotten us better shots vs. the Lakers in Game 5 and 7. He would've just jacked up shots like the rest of the guys.

We need somebody to set up our players with the threat of scoring as well. THIS team doesn't NEED Amare.

He's a great scorer, but we already have scorers/shooters.

I have never seen anything like his posts. He puts together a riddle and then nothing ever comes of it. Its so obscure that people turn it into whatever they want. While if you looked closer, plenty of real information is posted but people don't even realize it.

I don't think the Kings are willing to take old players at this point. I am from Sacramento and I think Jason Thompson is the most promising player we have, followed by Spencer Hawes. Kevin Martin is a scorer in losing games -- something that I think is overlooked. Plus he's like 26 years old.

McGrady is a good offer because I don't think McGrady is done yet in the NBA and if he is, his contract is expiring. It would help Sacramento sell tickets while they obtain more lottery picks :D

Kevin Martin is not a good first option so being on the Rockets would make sense for him. I don't think he's tough enough to take the leader role and make something happen. He's a follower...and it's a good thing. He would thrive under Adelman (again).

    I would welcome T-Mac here.

What just happened? This is what Doc's post says now.

But like three minutes before that, it said this

    And here is the proof!

Now I know you're screwing with me, Doc. How'd you do that without it saying that you edited it?

Also Artest, Martin, and Adelman together again? That would be nice.

i think if you edit a post within like a min of posting it you can do it without having the "last edited by" thing

A Stoudemire/Barbosa package would be nice for Mac and Brooks. I think a Lowry/Barbosa backcourt could work out well.
