No problem, I can appreciate a well reasoned argument. Yes, but now, who is in our back court, we are already young at PG, and weak at wing...we need to address our weaknesses before our strengths, imo. And one of my beefs is how much Amare is going to cost versus production, Scola is a better rebounder, about the same defensively, but is weaker athete for sure, I think we get about the same production from Scolandry as we would with Amare/Scola etc. And the cost for Amare is going to be a lot, a huge contract. It seems anti-money ball to me. This is not Brooks fault, it is Yao's fault, people have been complaining about getting the ball into Yao for years, but the primary problem for this is Yao, he doesn't present a good target, has a hard time catching the ball, doesn't seal his man, so until he does all those things everyone will have difficulty passing th ball to him.... What I would prefer is a PG that can take advantage of other teams overplaying Yao, IE hit the midrange shot, that is what Brooks was doing, in Adelman's system it is not about getting Yao the ball, it is about all players being able to pass and set up each other, Brooks did that well enough, IMO. Sorry, I was assuming that as part of the trade Amare would get an extension, and I think that a wait and see approach would be more prudent for sure. Scola is a starting PF in the NBA, and Yao's best friend, I am saying that Scola will be an unrestricted free agent, and would probably want to go somewhere he could start, and losing a chemistry player like Scola is devestating in more ways than people imagine....he works hard all the time, that rubs off on the rest of the team. Amare doesn't. Agreed, I just assume he will demand an extension as part of any trade, and any team trading for him should be prepared for it. Gonna respectfully disagree with you about Amare creating anything, he scores primarily off passes from Nash. He fills our weakness. You are confusing him with Tmac...and again he fits our need at a decent contract level. We need scoring more than defense, we need a contrast to Battier.....badly....again...IMO. DD
Amare can opt out of his contract after this year, which he said he will do. The only way I can see your view point is if we give him an extension. Can I ask you why Yao wont resign? Because we'd be aquiring Stoudemire? I doubt that. Or is it so he can go sign with LeBron and win a ring with him? Either way, Yao is going to opt out next year to explore his options, but that doesnt mean he isnt coming back or doesnt want to come back. I dont get some peoples thinking, because we'd be aquiring a post player, that Scola and Yao and everyone else is going to walk? I know Amare isnt a team leader and is selfish if you want to call it that, but....I think things would change if he came here. Some said the same thing about Ron last year and how he wouldnt fit with this team and hes gonna cause problems. Well, it looks like things worked out for the most part. (Besides the rumored rift between him and McGrady and him and Alston).
DD, I usually got your back But you are wrong about Amare's offense. He can create his own shot and score at will, Nash helps sure, but Amare doesn't score primarily off of Nash passes
After this trade, Amare would become less selfish. The players keep to get better after each trade, just follow Ron.
Let's keep in mind that this is all speculation right now. Nothing of significance has come out to hint that the Rockets are anywhere near getting a deal done for Amare.
He's probably one of the dominanat offensive players in the league, its rediculous how often he get's to the free throw line.
You're right. This is all pure speculation. Thats just who theyre targeting. Talks are probably preliminary right now. If something does happen, we probably wont hear about it until draft night and thereon after.
Yes, you are right, any deals that have be talking in public papers before getting it done are likely not going to happen, I do not like the chance for this very much.
Here's a response to the claim "Amare can't create his own offense Nash spoon feeds him everything". Percentage of made shots assisted to: Amare - 57% Shaq - 59% Yao - 58% Scola - 71% Garnett - 74% This number low would be a problem if he shoots a poor percentage but he shoots an exceptional percentage at .617 TS%.
Only want Amare if we can get Nash also. There is no point in getting Amare without a decent point guard and if we are letting Brooks go and with Lowry still being a project who the hell is going to be our starting point guard? Bibby?Hinrich?Kidd? Those guys are all out there to be had but if we can't get Nash I would say no to giving them Brooks. T-mac is always expendable but I'm not willing to lose Landry and Brooks for this kind of deal, we could do much better then this.
In case it wasn't linked in this thread yet, I couldn't find it in the lats 5 pages or so. Clutch Interview on 1560 http://thegame.podbean.com/2009/06/24/john-and-lance-talk-with-dave-hardisty/
DD Amare would be taking on Landrys role of backing up Yao and splitting time with Scola. It was also rumored that J.Rich (Your wing guy) or Barbosa (Better than Brooks IMO) were part of this deal. It's a win-win if youask me. If it's J.Rich (hopefully) then I'm sure Morey will be looking to pick up a vet. PG. If it's Barbosa Morey will be looking for a wing in the draft along with re-signing Wafer.
DD if the trade and I have no idea if this even works is tmac, brooks, landry and pick bought from another team for amare, jrich barbosa i dont see how you can do that move. it may make wafer expendable especially if white can come in and put up some of the numbers that wafer did. lowry/barbosa jrich/artest*/wafer*/barry battier/artest amare/scola/hayes Yao/Amare/Dorsey/hayes that is an great versatile lineup IMO i just dont think we could give up so little and get those 3 players back in return unless phoenix is really going crazy with their $ situation
