According to an SC news station they found his car there too(supposedly) http://www.wyff4.com/news/19837234/detail.html This may be Spitzer-esquely amusing.
I guess he doesn't plan on running for re-election. The mistress theory, or maybe a drug-bender, sounds pretty dang close. Now I'm thinking about Burt Reynolds's character in Striptease.
And here's his car on the trailhead....err....Columbia Metro Airport. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...-be-sanfords-found-at-south-carolina-airport/ EDIT: and it looks like the Appalachian Trail was in.... ...Buenos Aires, Argentina. http://www.thestate.com/local/story/838823.html
I know, right? It's just weird and funny. Poor South Carolina is so messed up anyway; the party of the governor is not really relevant to the oddity of such a major official going on a spirit quest.
Argentina? For 6 anonymous days? Either he was enjoying a fling with a dead girl or live boy, meeting with the three living ex-Nazis who are his overlords, or having plastic surgery.
Looks like the mundane answer... another woman... Still, leaving his family on Father's Day was a nice touch and to go out of the country for a tryst shows this guy has style.
Bwahaha, well played. At first I thought to myself "I guess the guy can't have some alone time," but now this seems incredibly interesting.
Press conference is going on now. He said he cheated on his wife with a friend from Argentina... wow. He's done as far as the Presidency goes.
I have to say - I'm impressed with him in his press conference. He's being open with details about how he met her, how it started, his mistakes, etc. Kind of weird and sad, but very different from your typical politician that just apologizes and walks away.
