For the most part, the saner heads in the group were unanimous in hailing that a great low risk-high reward acquisition. Obviously you had the few random kooks reminiscent of the "but, but, who will be our backup center with Cato gone?" days, but that's a different story.

The fact that this has Daryl Morey's fingerprints on it is enough to sell me. I think his track record has bought him more than enough political capital for granting benefit of the doubt. He could announce that we had just traded Yao Ming to the Lakers for Sasha Vujacic and nude photographs of Jeanie Buss and I would assume he came away on the winning side.

As far as Ron, despite having expressed my disdain for his play in recent times, I don't think this team can afford to lose him unless a Jason Richardson is also included in the package. You can't just let talent walk in a league run by talent when gunning for a championship.

At the end of the day, despite my reservations, you are presumably trading a contract and Aaron Brooks for an All-Star power forward and a guard of comparable talent to Brooks (Barbosa/Richardson). In a league driven by talent, this would be a major step toward infusing that which was lost when it became clear that McGrady would never be the same again.

Another guy who assumes I'm a TOF because of the name. Pitiful

Scola is 29 Battier is 30 will be 31. Amare is 26. Hmmmm Amare is a better scorer than Scola. Can play the 4/5 unlike Scola. Battier is losing it year after year. If you can get a guy like Amare for those 2 players without giving up McGrady then you do it. Yao, Amare, McGrady on the same team come on.

    YOU FAIL

I'm all for trading TMAC and a combination of Brooks or Landry for Amare. But I really hope they don't trade away Scola.

Did you do it intentionally? I mean, that would be huge if it comes true!

LOL I doubt you watch the Rockets games when T-Slack is not playing. Why trade away our best team defender and Luis(Did you watch game 6 vs the Lakers?) !? Amare can't play defence at all. We would be a medicore defence team for sure after this trade.

    No, No and No.

If we are building around Yao. No.

Amare does not play defence, demands ball a lot. We should not give up Scola. He is complements Yao perfectly.

I would love to see amare in a rocks uniform. He would be an ideal fit who can play beside or behind yao ming. Unfortunately, he is another player who has undergone major surgeries. Hence, he may be injury prone. Anyhow, good photoshop work and i really hope the rockets land some big name player soon.

If this move WILL be done, I hope Scola won't be a part of it. He's one of our most consistent players so don't want to mess that up!

    Ditto.

I'm not crazy about his attitude or his injury-proneness (I guess that's a word?). But a player of his caliber cannot be ignored.

If Morey thinks it's worth it, I'm all for it.

I doubt you understand what the NBA is. It is a business. Guys come and go. You sure are just crazy along with everyone else here to get rid of a guy because of one bad season.

I hate when guys say Amare can't play defense. You do know Scola isn't a great defensive player either. Landry can't play defense either. Yao rarely plays defense. Would you like me to keep going?? Defense is based on the team not 1 freaking player. How many times have guys blown pass Artest?? please. If you can get Amare for those players then you do it.

If you can trade 2 role players for an allstar then you do it. Scola and Battier are easily replaceable.

But AMARE has a leg of a 35 yrs old now.

Yao, Amare and Mcgrady in one team, that's too much risk.

    Ditto ditto.

If Morey wants him, I'm sure he's done his homework regarding Stoudemire's injury issues.

Agreed. Aside from Yao, I think Scola is pretty much untouchable. He really came on during the playoffs for us -> loved his energy and hustle. And he was finishing around the basket unlike his first year.

at least that's what i hope.

Of all the guys on the team to make that statement with, you picked the two (besides Yao) that I completely disagree with.

A speedy shooting point-guard (Brooks) and an energetic PF (Landry) are replaceable (as much as I love 'em). Scola and Battier aren't replaceable, both are pretty unique players in the league.

Did you just say Yao don't play defense?? Man, without Yao, the Rockets are nothing on defense. It is because of Yao's inside presence that team couldn't do anything. Yao makes team take jump shots and make them scare of attacking the rim. And do you ever see player go one on one with Yao?? Nope. Yao is also great one on one too!!

And then you go on and say "defense is based on the team not 1 freaking player. Well, without Yao, Battier and Artest defense won't mean much since they can attack the basket.
