The view from over here...Oberto looked completely D-O-N-E this past year. The Spurs were desperate for big man help this year and he still couldn't find much court time. It was bad court time when he did get it. Here's hoping the Rockets stay far, far, far away from Oberto.
Morey is gonna get something done. Maybe not tonight or tomorrow or Friday, but I feel like a deal will happen sooner than later.
The Spurs are fine with being over the cap, they just want to be below the Luxury Tax threshold. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Salary_Cap#Luxury_tax
Absolutely. If he gets cut by the Bucks and we haven't already filled the hole at backup center, he'd be one of the best options.
Thomas would be a good replacement for Deke. He could still rebound and defend. 10-12 mins a game would be enough to give Yao some rest. However, would He prefer to go to Dallas and play there. Dallas needs big men in their roster? Isnt He from Dallas?
With nine guys under contract, they now sit at 69 million. Many experts have projected a lux tax threshold at 65 million. Even being one penny over the threshold sucks for a small market because you don't get a share of the money. That and you have to match dollars for every dollar over the limit. Any future signings will essentially cost the team twice as much. That means they can offer the MLE like any other team, but it could essentially cost them upwards of 10 million a year depending on where the MLE sits this year.
Yes, but the reason Detroit wanted him is his partially unguaranteed contract, so they can cut him and chop payroll. Hence he will be a free agent soon.
We do need that, and Kurt is a 4 but he is an experienced defender and rebounder.Getting a long, athletic 4/5 might prove to be too difficult to get. I expect him to go back to the Spurs if he gets bought out.
Just ti clarify some things i rread here that are wrong. Oberto is a natural C, has always played that position. Last year he played very few games because he was carryng a heart condition, arritmia, and he had to be applyed some electric shicks to correct it and be able to still play, after the season ended he had surgery to correct that for good. This hear conditions started in the 07-08 season, and was believed by that time that they were a reaction to trevor ariza´s hit in the chest, that´s why it took two seasons to realize that it was a heart condition of his. The season Oberto played complete was the 06-07 when he was 32 y/o. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDeRB_k7b2Y&feature=fvsr
I 100% agree. I think that him and Scola are friends could only add to the chemistry. We need more size, so I would take him cheap.
