I wouldn't be dissapointed if nothing happens on draft night. I WOULD be dissapointed if we made a bad trade on draft night, but I doubt that happens.
Nothing is more valuable than Tracy McGrady. If Detroit can shed a few million as they are allegedly tring to do and trade for McGrady by absorbing his contract that would generate a $23M TE.
What makes you think that a D-League'er or a second round pick is going to help the Rockets NEXT YEAR as a backup center more than Luis Scola or Chuck Hayes? Heck, even Joey Dorsey (who was drafted last year to be a backup center and has been working with the Rockets' coaching and training staff for a year) is in a better position to help the Rockets than anyone you're proposing to get, short of a legit Euro star (a la Scola or Marc Gasol).
No, a back up center is a must, and, frankly, I still think we need a veteran PG. Brooks might be the future, but, presently, he can't put two good games together. You could let TMac expire, but surely he is worth something to somebody. And, finally, you should always look to improve. The Rockets proved they have a ton of heart, but they are nowhere near as talented as the Lakers. And like it or not, they are the new "gold standard." They are likely the only team in the league that will be happy if they do nothing.
I would be happy if we made no trades for draft picks (slim pickings this year anyway). But I assume we will have to get rid of McGrady in order to get a top quality FA like Artest or whoever is available. But even if we don't move McGrady, as long as we at least get a backup center to help limit Yao's minutes and someone decent for the SG position, I will be ok with the team's decision. While there is room for improvement, we have a very solid team right now and one or two pieces could be all we need to go much farther then we did even this season.
We can not stay pat..San Antonio is making moves and we need to as well..this team needs aother legitimate playmaker/scorer or big man or Rubio...we have to do something to get bigger and score easier Chilcutt
If the Rockets put out exactly the same team this year, plus a serviceable big man to back up Yao I would be perfectly content.
I think we need to get rid of wafer while we can, SA is making moves, who knows what other teams in the west will make, we need to get a closer and backup center.
The only real thing I expect(This is assuming Artest and Wafer stay) is getting a back up for Yao. Anything else would just help ease the boredom of the offseason.
I want Tmac gone before the season even starts cause I don't want anymore locker room and chemistry problems like earlier last season esp. now that Deke won't be coming back to fix things.
Seconded. We HAVE to do something now. I don't really like when both Artest and Battier are on the floor together.
I would be EXTREMELY content if we were to roll with what we got. We were just a healthy Yao away from beating the Lakers. Even a healthy Deke would have made it more interesting. Add in Tmac and we could have taken them in 5. Did anyone ever stop to think that we have tradable assets because we actually have good players. Its like the kid that loves PB&J but wants to trade it for balogna and cheese just because everyone wants PB&J. Everyone wants it because its good. We get a big man cheap, and we can go 10 deep next year. Yao, Chandler Scola, Landry/Hayes (Trade one to NOH) Battier, White/Wafer Tmac, Artest Brooks, Lowery I say lets not make a trade simply because people want what we have. All of you calling for trading tmac for larry hughes are no fans of my team.
