I dont' know how i would feel. I guess I would feel angry because i want them to do something to give us something to look forward to but i guess if they don't do anything hopefully they would resign artest and wafer the first day they can.
The Rockets are hosting a "Draft Party" this year... so I'd be kind of weird if they don't buy a pick, make a trade, or at least do something minor on draft night. Then again, if doing nothing is the best option that night (because all deals being offered are crapy), I'm sure the team will not do something stupid for the sake of pleasing the fans at the party.
I would be happy. They say the best trades or moves are the ones you don't make . The one move that is impossible for us to make that its hard for us to get is health. Other than that we are fine. Health health health is the only move that we need but somehow someway we can't seem to find it.
Too many holes to fill in the roster. Needs that need to be address in the off season. The Rockets know that insurances for injuries must be made. The team is good but not good enough to contend yet.
I will be following draft night with bated breath to see if the rockets make it interesting. I have just one big fear... Morey, Please Please PLEASE don't trade T-Mac for 40 cents on the dollar. I'm fine with moving him, just don't make a deal where we get crap in return. I'm pretty confident Morey wouldn't do a dumb deal, I just hope we don't make a move out of desperation.
I'd be happy if nothing happens on Draft Night (ie, we don't draft anyone by buying draft picks). However, I WON'T be happy if we don't change this team a little bit. We can't win a championship with this current roster. We need height in a big way. Plus, there's the issue of resigning people, like Artest and Wafer.
As long as the makeup of this team changes just a bit, I'd be happy. If we don't draft someone, I'd expect for a signage and/or trade. You can't just depend on health with this team. It's what killed us for the last several years; no reason to think it won't happen again.
Actually, while I said before that I don't think we need to get in this draft, let me rephrase what I meant. The Rockets organization is good at finding undervalued players (L.S.). If they see someone who will go late in the first round that they think is a steal, try and buy the pick. But, I dont think we need to try and get a top pick, lets work on getting some players with exp.
yes i would be happy. dorsey looks promising after that last story about him on rockets.com all we need is a healthy tmac and we got ourselves a title.
I feel McGrady might be this year's Rafer, and we might end up getting another Lowry for him. I'm not saying it's going to be a point guard. I'm referring to the quality of the potential piece(s),that we might get back in return. I don't think DM is going to do a dumb deal. I think there is a remote possibility that management might retain him if they see him as a potential asset to the team if he gets healthy.
Not sure I understand the need for drama ... I'd be disappointed if we didn't maneuver to get anything in this current economy, where we could actually buy some picks, make trades with cash-strapped teams, especially since Les has publicly stated he was willing to be predatory. I have a lot of confidence in Morey's capability to find value, and maximize his assets. He's a biz whiz, not just a number cruncher. But, we have a number of components to this off-season, from signing our own FAs, to using our MLE, our TEs, paying cash, overseas talent, developing our own guys, to signing other FAs, to trades, and to the draft. I'm not necessarily hoping to get a star, ala Rubio, although that WOULD be awesome, but I'd like to see Morey get more trading chits to get us what we need, especially at backup center, and upgrading our team to be true contenders, surrounding Yao, without worry they'll get injured any minute now. ... we may have taken LA to 7 games, but we're not contenders yet, IMHO ... not until our talent is healthier, able to get us a higher seed, and stay on the floor the entire playoffs.
This sums up the offseason pretty well. While we don't need wholesale changes, we should be working to make incremental upgrades. In particular, we need some size in the frontcourt to compete with Denver and LA. We do have some trade assets in a buyer's market, so hopefully Morey can make some moves. But I'd rather he make the right moves than a knee jerk trade.
No, I think a lot teams this offseason would like to make moves. So I think with our current team and flexibility to make a couple moves, they should be done to improve as much as possible. IMO, I think moving T-Mac should be first priority. I don't care if he goes off next year, its not likely. I rather trade him for player/s that could actually bring some real value and chemistry to the team. And won't play for half a season, or have to worry if he'll get hurt and then take days off... or play hurt to make sure he gets his numbers in able to get a new contract in the offseason. Either way I think he hurts the team.
there's only a box to check at the bottom that just ask if you want to make a poll and how many options....???
From the buzz surrounding this draft I would be very surprised if we end up walking away with a big man. I agree its our biggest hole as demonstrated in the rebound discrepency in the losses to LA after Yao went down but, if we go deep to buy the pick I assure you we are picking a guard. Morey has already stated that that is the only place of any depth in this draft. We have two guys that can handily run the team but I bet he's looking for some sort of productive combo guard (Wafer w/ a better handle if you will). Unless we miraculously move into the top 10 we will not be walking away with a big.
If you're correct, I really hope we have a "big" somewhere (ie. euro, Dleague, purch'd 2nd rounder) because that is my "at least" expectation, a back-up for Yao.
