After carefully reviewing the previews on Quicktime, I have concluded that... ...they will both suck equally. (Where's that option?) Tommy Davidson was tripping me out with those gold teeth, though...
Not even a contest. Like Mike is basically a kid's movie, so you normally can't go too wrong there, plus, some of the previews are somewhat funny. Juwanna Mann has nothing that even comes close to making me smile, and it doesn't have the kid movie excuse.
Like Mike. I do not like that stupid kid rapper or the kid from Jerry McGuire(sp?) both will suck tho. HARD
This poll is so funny because when I saw the preview for 'Like Mike', the first thing I did was lean over to my friend and say, "That is the worst movie ever made." Then, a couple of weeks later I had to revise that statement when I saw an ad for Juanna Mann.
I agree with this statement. I agree with this statement too. I would still rather watch a 24 hour marathon of thse two movies back to back(interspersed with the remake to "Rollerball", and the Sylvester Stallone classic "Driven"), than watch a minute of "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood". That movie looks like every crappily-cliched chick flick ever made combined - except on steroids.
Not worse than simply dismissing it because it's a "chick flick". Of course, it's also part of my job.
Well I was joking a little, I know it's part of your job. I do however read your reviews and you give these types of movies higher ratings than they usually deserve IMHO. Stuff like Vanilla Sky, which you gave an extremely high grade, was frankly not very good while something like Memento which was really well regarded you gave a really mediocre grade.
I don't really know what you mean by giving "these type of movies" higher grades than they deserve? I don't really have a taste in movies, so I don't prefer one kind over another. Are "these type of movies" basically movies that you don't like that much? Or maybe you can explain to me how YaYa and Vanilla Sky are the same type of movie. I don't care how a movie is regarded by other people, I either like it or I don't. I absolutely loved Vanilla Sky and I liked YaYa a lot. Maybe you just fall too much in line with what the experts are saying Mr. Amelie Boy.
Well I don't have time to show you now but you definitely have a certain taste in movies, especially goofy comedies and chick flick stuff. Later...
OK, I can see that, but I think the difference is that I don't judge those movies the way I judge movies like Memento or Amelie, which I enjoyed a lot. For goofy comedies and "chick flick" stuff (Moulin Rogue being the only one I'd really consider a "chick flick" that I loved, but if you're going to consider that a "chick flick", you'd have to consider Amelie one as well), it's basically whether I had a good time. Did I laugh or did I squirm? The story itself normally isn't as big a factor. The latter type of movies, however, I tend to scrutinize more because it's trying to be more. Basically, you don't judge Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back the same way you'd judge Citizen Kane...that's why the goofy comedies as a whole get better grades from me.
Hey Rocketman95, who do you review for? I wrote a movie review or two for the Daily Texan back in college. Mostly did music reviews, though.
